I've long given up regarding this aspect in the dramas, not just POJ. Seems like many directors and writers prefer…
After watching the trailer I can tell they are going in a totally different direction from the novel. They were friends to lovers in the novel but the show looks like dislike to lovers

guys idk if im stupid, but I didnt get the conversation between XZ and lord li in the start of ep 33
Basically XZ is reminding him that Qi Min started a pointless war to gain the throne because he is legitimate, and his teacher General He taught Li Huai’an never to do that because it makes people suffer. He knows that Li Huai’an is supporting Qi Min (he let him escape many times)

I liked that in the novel it was XZ who pulled back then got whipped to be with her again. they are axing a lot of his trauma, obsession and self-hatred

I also didn't like it. She shouldn't make decisions for others. For XZ, it was also not okay but it was understandable.…
Well, Li Huai’an’s character has been changed. Initially, the person she knocked out was Zheng Wenchang, whose role was given to Li Huai’an. So it was going to happen either way. Zheng Wenchang eventually forgave her, and I think it will be the same here. I don’t think he will turn evil, as he’s decided not to follow either the Wei or Li faction.

Tbf, the sex/freaky scenes were implied or fade to black. It’s only the kisses (and bites!) that were explicit

From ep 28, QM said he wants to take revenge on Lord ChangXi and SYQ. He doesn't care about the throne. It's been…
He cares about the throne, only he doesn’t want to get it as Sui Yuanhai. He’s the son of a crown prince so he has a legitimate claim to the throne, he doesn’t need to get it with these rebels. This is why he wanted Xie Zheng to help him get the throne. This is why he wants his son dead, because if he’s alive then they would get rid of him because he can’t be controlled and use Bao’er instead as a puppet

Damn they really changed it to Wei Yan hitting him...😔😭
Wei Yan doesn’t deserve to give him the lashes. He owes the Xie clan. This change doesn’t make sense

Yea I’m biased but I was getting very confused about her resistance and hesitance to the idea of marriage because…
They don’t have equal social status. A butcher is usually really looked down on in society, idk if you’ve watched Mr Sunshine. That aside, someone of his status is supposed to marry a noble girl who can run his household and be head of his clan. In the novel he explains that he has no family left and the Xie clan is sparse now so she doesn’t have to worry about meddling relatives or female cousins who show up out of nowhere. Socializing is another thing married noble women are expected to do. For that you need to be trained in etiquette. He tells her she doesn’t need to socialize with ladies in the capital because he’s not planning on staying there anyway. Another thing, when a girl marries, it’s good if her maternal family can stand up for her. In the novel she told him a story of a tofu seller who married up but her in laws bullied her out. In the end he married someone else. He also learned that Xie Wu’s sister married a blacksmith instead of a wealthy man who liked her. She chose the blacksmith because she was a little above him in status and she would protect herself. Changyu has no maternal family of equal status. In any case her parents are dead now. That’s why he asked the tutor to adopt her so that they can have equal status.

Why do people have two names? Xie Zhang, Jiuheng?
Jiuheng is his courtesy name. It’s a name given to a man by their elders — in this case Grand Tutor Tao — during their coming of age ceremony. Women usually don’t have courtesy names but Changyu will get one

I know where the story is at currently even though I'm not watching it. In the novel they have a long honest conversation…
And the subsequent conversation with his subordinate whose sister married a blacksmith instead a wealthy man had sought after her. It actually makes Jin Yuanbao liking her pronounced as technically they are of the same social status
