one of those feel good youth drama that you have to watch at least once in a lifetime
Whenever I decide to watch a drama, I usually start by reading the general plot first. for WIFTY, the plot alone made me expect something light, just a typical youth coming-of-age story, filled with playful moments and only light conflicts along the way.at first, to be honest, there were moments that tested my patience, such as how the FL sometimes made me want to scratch the wall with how hard she tried to get the ML’s attention, some other times i got mad due to the ML’s attitude that really left me frustrated. If this had been my own story, I probably would’ve given up on RangRang after putting in so much effort without anything in return.
But as the story unfolded, something shifted. I realized that every character carried their own quiet weight, their own story. That’s when it hit me... this wasn’t just another youth drama. Slowly, I found myself attached, not just to the leads, but to the whole group. It felt like being part of their little circle :") laughing with them, crying with them, and holding on to that bittersweet ache of growing up and chasing dreams.
By the time the FL and ML’s relationship began to unfold, my love for this drama only deepened. It left me with a warm, lingering feeling, and it reminds me with my teenage days :") that, growing up itself, even with all its ache, can also be something beautifully tender and a phase of life that we should cherish forever.

Hidden Love made me believed in love all over again
Stumbled upon Hidden Love by accident when I was just scrolling through netflix looking for one good series to watch, and somehow I ended up here and that moment marked my very first step into c-dramas. I didn’t even bother to search for the cast beforehand, so I went in with zero expectations, just a mindset of “let’s see where this takes me.”However, suddenly, I was so absorbed that I don’t even know how to go back to k-dramas again, lol. Now I’m fully seated for more c-drama.
Hidden Love is the perfect example of how the delivery of a drama that feels so balanced. The conflicts, the sweet little moments, the struggle of each character, the joyous moments, the way each character quietly grows to be a better person for each other, it all unfolds at just the right pace. And the chemistry? Not only between the leads, but also between the SangSang siblings. That, for me, was the true cherry on top <3
I know the age gap might feel uncomfortable for some, but to me, that’s what makes Hidden Love so unique. The slow (literally slow) burn of their romance is what makes it tender and beautifully real. and the second half of the drama always made me giggles yet craving for having my very own Duan Jiaxu in my life lol
If your heart is longing for something light yet warm, this is one of those stories that might stay with you. definitely a must-watch🤍

i was about to give this drama a 10 out of 10 :/
I’ve been searching for a wuxia drama that truly matches my preferences, and honestly this drama is the first one I’ve actually watched all the way to the end.Love how every character has such distinct personalities without making it seems forced (kudos to all casts that succeed in delivering their characters well!) and how each episode is always a rollercoaster ride from start to finish, leaving me no room for boredom as I was completely immersed in the story the whole time.
On a side note, interestingly I found myself more attached to the second couple rather than the main one since the tension and chemistry between Shangjue and Shangguan felt much more thrilling to me, eventho i hate how Shangjue letting go of Shangguan at the end when he alrd knows that Shangguan is pregnant to his kid :/ what a man
Beyond the romance, i had to mention that the storyline, the political intrigue, the war tension, and the cinematography are all top tier no doubt. all of these elements truly elevated the entire drama, that's why I was soooo ready to give it a perfect 10 out of 10.
However, the story started to feel messy after Huan Yu’s return. while the plot twist was shocking, I think it could have been executed with more depth and less rush, and not only that, what disappointed me the most, though, was the ending. It wasn’t even an open ending. It felt abrupt, almost like the final scene was cut off. It didn’t do justice to such an otherwise amazing drama. I really wish the producers had wrapped it up in a more satisfying way.
is it worth watching? yes. would i watch it again? no
