In my opinion, the ending is not bad, but I think that 3/4 of the episode doesn’t make any sense. It feels like the writer forgot what the main story was about and just added random elements.
Maybe this has something to do with the novel, but I haven’t read it, so my opinion is based solely on the drama adaptation.
