I kind of wish the trailers hadn't shown the conflict coming up for Seunghyun and Tak. Now every scene where we…
That final drama trailer dropped way too early. The main profiling part hasn't even arrived yet. I wonder if it was Disney+'s attempt at letting people know that it isn't going to be all sunshine and rainbows but I feel like they could've done that through an episode preview. The total shift compared to the main trailer was like the black and pink Barbie house meme, lol
Finally saw a Tak Seunghyun FMV that edited their interactions together. The knowing looks and shoulder bumps. Seunghyun is more smiley around Tak compared to the other Cheongram Training roomies. I'm bracing for the ship to reach rocky seas but at the same time, I am not ready https://twitter.com/kdanieloop/status/1491687290648903682
If D+ was indeed trying to compete with Netflix, they would've made this drama globally and readily available.…
That's pretty much it. It's a youth web drama with fresh faces on a new and limited OTT platform. This isn't on TV and is exclusive to an OTT that people have to go out of their way to watch.
Disney+ is new to Kdramas and the promotion really shows that. This applies not only for Rookie Cops but also for the upcoming Kdramas. A drama is limited to 10 countries maximum on its premiere date. Grid is a sci-fi thriller show airing soon but the promotion is also lacking despite the genre being on trend.
There is no consistent promotion across all of the Disney+ countries at the same time. Some accounts never posted a trailer like Singapore. Yet Singapore is the only account to rely on for uploads with English subtitles. Not having an official source with English subbed trailers and previews makes it hard for people to get an idea of what is going on. I have seen a news article use an unofficial video to embed.
As for Disney Plus Korea...Disney+ is really not appealing to international fans looking for Korean content by only launching in select countries and not putting subtitles on official channel content. None of the behind-the-scenes or extra content has English subtitles. Even an interview with Jisoo and Haein at 1 million views has no subs. Snowdrop fans at least had JTBC for additional content, but Rookie Cops, Grid and Soundtrack #1 only have Disney+. There is video content, but it's a shame fans have to translate that themselves.
Netflix and iQIYI among others have a side channel dedicated to subtitled Korean content. I think playing Jenga is overdone, but at least Swoon has subbed videos like that. Even Korean channels like SBS have subbed Kdrama videos.
No way can Disney+ compete with Netflix for the time being with the lack of series offerings and understandable promotional material.
you're so funny to me lol have you watched any of the dramas the guy in your profile picture has been in or do…
The doomsday reaction to a scene that might even be a fake out by the director. Not sure what OP was watching but there is no such scene. I doubt it's going to happen anytime soon. It's too early in the series for that.
The selective judging even extends to a scene that doesn't even happen. Established notions really cloud judgment huh
People really be pinpointing an actor for their character being written the way it is in only the first few episodes.…
"And if you watch enough dramas you'll realize you just need to wait and see if the story eventually comes around to them." Especially true for an ensemble cast. So far up to episode 4 ML's character is written like a support to FL which is completely okay. He is leaning more of a supporting role in an extended cast so far..and isn't that what naysayers wanted?
The stigma is real. I don't see the same level of blame game sentiment for model-actors. It's somehow the actor's fault for not being written to do more other than saving FL? There was an opportunity to see ML rally up reform support but the writer/editor did not take that.
It's only been 4 eps though and some plot points were already wrapped up so at least the plot can move forward. I admire FL's hustle but not her motivation for getting into university lol. I want to see more freshmen class bonding. The freshman group is the best part for me so far.
Can't wait for the new episodes tonight. I hope they actually give the ML some scenes this time. They've been…
People really be pinpointing an actor for their character being written the way it is in only the first few episodes. It's the writer and editors who decided on the role's actions and that a character's contributions should not be thanked by the other characters to focus on FL and her development. Along the note of character writing, I thought Hanna was flat in ep 1-2 but in ep 3-4 she shows more sides to her as her story progresses so now she's one of the characters I look forward to seeing how they pan out. Good thing I reserved my judgment.
There are 8 major students and the writer gave more time to Hanna and Eunkang in ep 3-4. Hopefully all of them can have decent growth over the drama. Actors have to work within the confines of the storyline they are given though, and the writer's anchor is Eunkang. Who knows if that'll change for ep 5-6 but if the drama continues from her perspective, it wouldn't be the first drama that has characters orbiting around FL.

And Australia and New Zealand never teased about the drama before it aired so people figured out by surprise that it is available there.
I don't get this strategy when they own the drama originals. It's looking like the same deal for the upcoming Disney dramas.

since I'm bad with names and spelling:
Freshmen guy squad:
Wi Seung-hyun
Kim Tak
Yoo Dae-Il
Seo Bum-Ju
Freshmen gal squad:
Ko Eun-Kang
Gi Han-Na
Woo Ju-Young
Shin A-Ri
and many more characters other than the ones above

I need to complete this drama one day. If Beom Joo shows up with a walkie talkie, it's because of Signal lol

If you're curious why Disney+ calls the two the Puppy Couple, it's because they are puppy-faced and people compared them to Mocha and Wooyoo
