I'm currently watching Ugly Alert for the third time. Sometimes I think I could just keep replaying it for the rest of time and be completely satisfied. I have learned to never dismiss a daily drama again just because of length (other reasons, sure, but not just because they're long)

Go Ah Ra? Why her?
And also, to more accurately answer your question - she's never done a historical drama before so she probably wants to give it a shot, and now is probably the best time given that she just completed a historical movie which helps illustrate her ability to do the genre (assuming she did well in the movie of course, which I haven't seen so her performance could have left much to be desired for all I know).

Go Ah Ra? Why her?
Sorry I didn't mean to offend you, I was being serious. You asked why and I sincerely mean it when I say its likely either because they think she'll do the best job or simply because they think she'll bring the audience tthey want (or a combination of both). My last sentence was likely unnecessary but it came just from my personal feelings of wanting to give casting decisions the benefit of the doubt, that's all.

Go Ah Ra? Why her?
Maybe because they feel she's the best fit for the role? Maybe because they feel she will attract the viewers they are looking for? Why does it matter? If you don't like her, don't watch it. Or give her a chance in the drama and wait until you watch it before you judge it.

This drama has convinced me that from now on I am just going to watch anything PD Kim Byung-Soo directs without questioning it. I mean, I love the cast, plot, music, and almost everything about this drama, but I would literally watch it for the directing alone. He also directed The Three Musketeers, Nine Times Time Travel, Queen In-Hyun's Man and Vampire Prosecutor for anyone who's curious.

Title Warrior Baek Dong Soo Spoiler
I'm so confused why everyone hated the ending; that was fully how I was expecting it to end and I felt like it was inevitable. Granted, I think it could have been executed better, but overall I was quite satisfied with it (it legitimately wouldn't have sat right with me if Woon had lived in the end). Also, unlike the rest of the world, apparently, I actually really liked Ji Sun. I found her to have a quiet strength consistent throughout the drama and i felt like she was well matched with Dong Soo.

The storyline with Lee Joo Seung (the FD) is one of the most random things I have seen in a drama. I even saw it coming, but why? What was the point? So random, haha.

I was wondering why the law professor looked so familiar; turns out he was played by Frank Gorshin, an actor who was most active in the 60's and 70's best known for being the Riddler in the original Batman tv show, neat.

For a drama that's only genre is romance, the romance sure does take forever to start.

This drama is so underrated!!!! I recommend this in particular to people who love crime procedurals like the ones on OCN but wish they had a bit more romance (not that romance is the focus here, but it's definitely there).

I'm very impressed by this article, thanks for being so thorough! I wasn't 100% sold on Assembly but I'm definitely going to give it a shot.

I'd say this is pretty typical for a mid 2000's rom-com; not a ton of substance but not bad for a light watch (I wasn't a fan of the last 2-3 episodes though). The characters are pretty likable (at least the main leads are).

From the poster I feel that "mong Ji" has the same roll that she played in EC ! I wish if she did something…
I agree that the role seems quite similar to her role in EC, but to be fair, she hasn't really done many romantic comedies (especially in dramas) as she has mostly done historical dramas, in addition to crime and such. So since her role in EC seemed a good fit for her it makes sense that she would want to stick with a similar role for a while, as I don't think she has to worry about pigeonholing herself just yet. Although I also agree that it would be great to see her in a fantasy drama.
