What is the romance like in this? any couples? love triangles? don't mind spoilers
There is a slight love triangle that resolves without drama. Two couples. Romance is definitely not a focus although it ends with two lovey dovey couple scenes.
<3<3<3Xiao Yu'er <3 <3 <3 I love you so much. This drama was somehow torturous to watch but also addicting and I am quite obsessed with XYE. The Tie Xin Lan character is the worst female "lead" I have ever seen. Pathetic. Useless. I prefer Su Ying because at least she is not fainting/crying/being rescued in every single scene. SO MANY characters I wanted to stab in the drama. Ending was so rushed even though the whole drama was building up to it, and the final scene I couldn't care less about and just skimmed. But did I mention my love for XYE?
Soooo Yanxi dies and moments later they’re smiling over his grave? Jing Ci was seemingly his best friend but couldn’t care less when he died? I know he is expressionless but seriously? Can you have some kind of reaction? Pretend you care a tiny bit? No? Okay. Most anticlimactic death I’ve ever seen. Is this how he was directed to act during this scene? The director was like “Now, your best friend died, but don’t bat an eye and act as if nothing at all bothersome happened.”
How to explain(limit English).... Experiencing thing make him change I understand. Its a good character development…
Because we have watched this drama and fell in love with XZ's acting does not make us biased. I believe the majority of us had limited knowledge of him (or in my case, had never seen nor heard of him before The Untamed). It's not as though we know him personally. And I'm honestly not some die-hard fan of him, either (although I consider myself a die-hard fan of WWX). I just really happen to love how he brought the character of WWX to life. If I found that XZ could not act, I would not like him based simply on his good looks. Good looks do not make good acting nor charisma.
I praise more on the production. Every actor can act no problem but either wuxian character or sx acting are not…
"he has 4 or five different personality it doesn't match" WWX is a multi-faceted character and that's what makes him so interesting. No person in real life always acts only one way. WWX acts differently according to his current circumstances. He goes through some "character" changes over the course of the drama which is only natural considering what he's been through. His venture into "ghost" magic etc. had an effect on his personality. He was always an arrogant troublemaker, but with a silly sense of humor. His practice of "ghost magic" accentuated his more "negative" qualities, but his core self remained altruistic and that was indeed consistent. When he comes back from being dead, he is more like his old self with his humor, but he also is more tame, less ready to start fights, and more willing to adjust his behavior as opposed to acting rashly. Again, people change over time. They learn and grow as people. Of course he would change after all that insanity that went down, after dying and getting a second chance and realizing what LZ had sacrificed for him. To me, it would be more unrealistic if these circumstances had no effect on his behavior. I actually think this is where the live action really shined
I'm so frustrated with this drama rn. I don't know why but I keep getting bored and can't get into it :( the first…
If you thought the first 14 episodes were good, it could just be that the middle-ish episodes are not your cup of tea, but maybe try watching through ep 26 to see if you might like it again? I feel like that is the defining episode. If you don't like it by ep 26, then I'd say it's probably not for you. (Unless you have an investment in the relationship between the two male leads, in which case you might end up enjoying eps from 33 onward)... ^_^
For me their love felt much more than friendship and brotherhood is not a word I would use. Their chemistry is so strong that they can make a scene seem romantic with just their expressions. This is just my opinion, no intention to argue with anyone as we all view art differently.
In my eyes, yes it is. (Not looking to start arguments or fights. If anyone disagrees with me, great, but I don't…
I see where you are coming from and the answer you gave is a good one. The reason I gave my answer is because I feel what the person is asking is less about genre and more about “are the leads more than friends?” Full disclosure, I have watched a lot of BL and I like BL but as you said this drama is more than that and not to be compared, because it is in a league of its own. However when I see people say it is “just a bromance,” or something along those lines, I want to express my view that this is not true. I think you and I do not really disagree fundamentally :-)

I've heard that the novel was a bl story? Does this have bl? are they in love but just no kiss scenes or is it…
Tbh it was not the case for me. I could tell they were hinting at BL without knowing about the novel. For me I never thought it was just a bromance, even from ep 1.
I'm glad you're giving it a chance!! :) I suggest you be patient. The 2 first episodes are confusing to most viewers,…
This question gets asked at least twice a week. We have all answered it hundreds of times. :) It is a good drama. Notice that the other dramas of the main leads do not have such high ratings. That means the rating this drama has is not simply due to that, although having great leads with great chemistry does play a part. Whether a drama is good is dependent not on just one thing. This one has wonderful acting from the leads, especially XZ, interesting, complicated, deep and touching character relationships, deep emotions, lessons to be learned, villains you can sympathize with AND a beautiful relationship between main leads. These aspects all add up to make a deservedly high rated drama.
Yes, I'm rejoining the fun again. I see we have over 10K viewers. Any of you over this drama yet? I was watching…
I was SO excited when I saw your comment the other day!!! Although I've been watching other things, definitely not over this. Everything I watch still seems mediocre and never a day goes by I don't check this page lol.
