Title The Untamed Spoiler
Yeah, I'm so happy too with the way Live Action tried to convey the relationship between Wei Ying and Lan Zhan.…
The donghua is good but romantic it is not, and visual symbolism doesn't make it any more so, and it doesn't have to be romantic. I'm thinking (hoping) you meant "cultural knowledge" instead of "cultured knowledge." Saying the donghua is not romantic is not a bad thing nor is it a criticism, so you don't have to take it that way. The story can stand on its own even without romance. Like you always say, the adaptations all have their own strengths. We have the live action and novel for romance. Two bunnies getting together is not romantic, regardless of what it is meant to "symbolize." It's cute and all, but is not my idea of romance. Like, I have 3 rabbits and I don't really want to think about them as Wangxian.

Hahaha, but it would be such a hardship for me to have to watch those scenes again :D :D just kidding. I could get really serious about this list idea lol.

So i ve been patient and i m at 20th episode. So where is that (bro)mance? They dont have that much of scenes…
From ep 33 to the end, Wei Ying and Lan Zhan spend almost every moment with each other. They are practically tied together to the point that other characters in the show comment on it. Lan Zhan's love for Wei Ying is made so obvious that no one in the world could miss it. But I mean, the love is clear before then too. LZ going out of his mind trying to help WY by learning cleansing music and playing it for him daily when he was unconscious? Breaking his clan rules to help WY. Says he wants to take WY to his home and hide him away from the world. In Ep 26 he cries for WY. In ep 28 he literally sees WY in slow-motion and has this blatant look of loving awe on his face. Ep 29 he breaks his clan rules again to go and help WY. Ep 34-end are basically one big festival of Lan Zhan showing his love for Wei Ying. Protecting him from dogs. Carrying him. Making sure he always has liquor. Watching his every move and getting him a new jar when he runs out without WY having to ask. Protecting him from every sword flung at him. Throwing away his reputation for him. Gifting him with chickens. Treating his money as though it also belongs to WY. Stealing for WY. Treating WY like a precious treasure. Holding him in his arms. Catching him every time he so much as slightly stumbles. SMILING warmly at him. In ep 46 they are practically married. Should I go on? lol

Title The Untamed
It’s been a month, and I have yet to start a new drama! I still can’t move on from this amazing drama! So…
Same here. I'm just not interested in anything else. When I started watching this originally, I dropped everything else I was watching and never picked them up again. I've never felt this way before. Everything I do in my free time relates to this drama in some way. I created a Twitter account so I could look at the Untamed related content and I HATE twitter but now I'm on it like every 30 minutes looking at this stuff. IDK anything anymore hahaha.

As you watch the episodes, all of this will be explained. The first two episodes are meant to be confusing as…
Isn't it that Wei Wuxian and Wang Ji are the courtesy names, which are used for others to call a person, and Wei Ying and Lan Zhan are the birth names, which are not really used unless between people very close with each other?

100% agree. Why the heck should there need to be a bunch of straight relationships in an m/m drama? I don't see them including m/m or f/f relationships in all straight dramas. If someone can't deal with the fact that the main pairing isn't a straight couple, then don't watch it. Wow.

I am straight as well, but that has nothing to do with it. Me being straight doesn't change the fact that Wangxian has more chemistry than any other canon couple I've ever seen.

That was meant to say “is” more special to me. This fandom is currently my only happiness (I work 7 days a week in a job with no human contact and have no friends or family lol) so I am living through this drama.

Oh goodness, I hope you didn’t take me the wrong way. I have watched both seasons of the donghua and enjoyed them. I just feel fuzzier about the drama. Just my opinion. I love them all but the drama isn’t just most special to me. Was not trying to pit anything against the other.

Thanks! The donghua's dynamic is similar to the novel, but in the novel there are more hints at the future romance. The donghua seems to be avoiding any and all physical contact between them and is just focusing on the fights. I think I've been spoiled too much by this drama and how mushy and sentimental it is. Like if I just saw the donghua first I'd probably love it.

I first read the novel then watched the show. In pilot episode when he clearly longed for Lan Zhan after rebirth,…
WWX longing for LWJ after his rebirth is literally the BEST thing they changed about the novel. It is so sweet and precious. Their relationship in the drama had to be more on an emotional level, because they couldn't include the physical stuff like in the novel, so it ended up making their relationship more tender and beautiful. Can't see how that could be a bad thing! They really built a bond and became soulmates in a slow and natural manner. Very powerful. :) :) :) Also in China there is censorship regarding the morals of main characters in dramas. They can't lean too much toward the "villainous" side, and unfortunately had to tone down WWX's craziness lol. Censorship also prevented them from including the thing with the paper dolls (which they probably would have had a hard time filming, anyway haha) :(
