The story went a bit differently in the novel. For instance, Ueang Phueng wasn’t Khun-Yai’s sister (he had another sister named Khun-Prim, who afaik didn’t exist in the story).
Fong Kaew and Khamsaen’s story weren’t explored much in the present time either, although they were a pretty major plot point during Commander Yai’s part.
How Khun-Yai handled his heartbreak…. I agree that they should’ve included that part because it was both sad and poetic how Khun-Yai never actually got over it—he kept on waiting for Jom and stayed single until the end of his life

Yeah honestly the novel ended in a pretty satisfactory note. I get why they didn’t include Commander Yai’s story in detail (budget and timing constraint aside), since it wasn’t really vital towards 2023’s Jom and Yai’s reunion, but it would’ve explained so much about why the loop happened in the first place. I hope we do get a season 2 where we can explore both Commander Yai and Yai Kanthorn’s story!
I've just finsihed this and I can say this will be one of my Top BLs for 2023. Everything about the series was…
The Yai in 2023 is not the same Yai as Khun-Yai and Commander Yai—he’s a reincarnation of them. I posted a more detailed explanation above.
I think the story is best described by a line mentioned several times in the book: Yai’s course of time went clockwise, and Jom’s anticlockwise. It’s essentially a loop—Yai and Jom kept meeting in different time periods due to a promise Commander Yai made to Jom, but that promise would’ve never been made had Jom not traveled backwards in time. I hope that makes sense:’)
I loved the show. great acting. Very satisfying female characters and their screentime. Bawled my eyes out in…
The Yai in 2023 is a reincarnation of both Khun-Yai and Commander Yai, his name is Khantorn. He’s Khun-Lek’s (Khun-Yai’s brother) grandson from his youngest daughter. He later got adopted by his aunt, who happens to be Khun-Yai’s favorite niece and also the one to inherit all of Khun-Yai’s estate. The will Khun-Yai left to her stated that she must deliver the key to the chest to Jom/a close relative of his at a specific date—hence why it was stated at the beginning of the show that someone was so adamant on choosing Jom for the rennovation project. Yai Khantorn found out about Jom that way and began gaining memories of Khun-Yai & Commander Yai. He immediately rushed to Chiang Mai after and got reunited with Jom:) (the scene we all saw at the ending).
The Blue House never greenlit anything, they just said they can't judge the drama as it hasn't aired yet. And…
To be honest, I'm not sure about that either. Although seeing that it's still Disney money we're talking about, I wouldn't be surprised if they continue uploading them even if the show gets cancelled in SK
I thought Blue House already greenlit the draft and story of Snowdrop? If they saw something problematic in it…
The Blue House never greenlit anything, they just said they can't judge the drama as it hasn't aired yet. And no, shutting the whole thing down at that point is basically against what Koreans fought for during that era: to abolish authoritarian censorship
The only thing I find weird and completely off is, JW wanted to leave the hospital to become a priest, that was…
Because that’s not his only reason. You can see that at the end of season one, Jeongwon came to a realization that being a priest isn’t his calling. There’s still a lot of people who needs him, and being a priest is not the only way he can serve God. His feelings for Gyeoul just solidified his decision. It gives him a reason to stay & someone he can come back to
I think it was about his family situation, his father. He felt sorry for her
it was never explicitly said, however, i believe they got divorced because of seokhyung’s father’ scandals (infidelity, tax evasion, coercing someone into organ trafficking). they were on an arranged marriage, so her family was probably affected negatively by it
Was the husband pre-decided or was the decision based on audience response or changed in between? I’m asking…
ok this reply is a bit late, but afaik, all of the husbands are pre-decided. lee woojung isn’t really the type to get swayed by the audience and her scripts are usually multi-layered with many hidden meaning and easter eggs, so it’d be hard to suddenly change something as major as the husbands’ identities mid-way. the mixed hints are just a way to confuse the viewers—it’s only fun if the guessing game goes on.
(yes, this includes the identity of 1988’s husband which has been speculated by many to be altered halfway through the story)
what did Lee Bo Young mean by asking the ancestors? is there any hidden meaning?
I'm pretty sure she's playing the role of a swindler there. If you don't know what that is, they're basically a bunch of con-men posing as missionaries, trying to trick you into attending their religious activities (hence, the praying to the ancestors) and get you to donate when in fact, they're just after your "donation" money. Their strategy usually involves approaching people on the street and people with a troubled face (like Dalmi and Jipyeong there) are easy targets for them. It's a pretty rampant problem in SK and Koreans are not the only ones to fall victims to these kinds of people, there are also foreigners who got swindled. So, just a warning, if you ever want to visit SK, be careful of strangers suddenly approaching you on the street!
But in terms of hidden meaning, I think it's just purely comedic:) (If someone could prove me wrong, I'd be happy to hear it though)
Maybe along the way he will find something either the XV is hiding or the school is hiding that even the XV didn’t…
the op is @/clairegorgeouss on twitter and they had a massive thread containing their analysis of the show, but unfortunately it's in all indonesian. i don't mind translating things if you are interested. about korn's true pontential, according to them, they believe that korn might have a photographic memory or that he's able to relive and revisit the last 24 hours of his life everyday, hence him not being able to sleep. they also speculated that korn might be involved with the failure of the gifted students last season by betraying them and leaking informations to the director (remember that he took lots of pictures in s1). if you look at the poster and adjust its brightness, you can see that korn is standing right on top of the "Fuck Gifted" graffiti and that he's climbing the stairs towards the director. the intro also showed korn arguing with punn and claire 'interrogating' him. we don't know his role in the story yet, but he might be more than just a mere bystander s1 made him to be. also: i'm just translating what @/clairegorgeouss said on twitter. all credit goes to them!

there's actually a theory going around twitter about korn's true potential and why he tried to hide it. if their analysis proves to be correct (the op managed to guess time's potential), korn's potential is so /much/ more than him not being able to sleep and he actually might play bigger role in the series than what we're all expecting
I have a question. Are Jung Hwan from Reply 1988 and Jun Wan in Hospital Playlist same names? Are they pronunced…
No, they are not the same name. Junghwan from Reply 1988 is written as 정환 in Korean and pronounced as Jŏng-Hwan. Junwan from Hospital is written as 준완 in Korean and pronounced as Joon-Wan.
Can any novel readers tell if it will be a real kiss next ep. and will Tine be upset about it, or start some development…
Yes it will be a real kiss next week (Sarawat will then say Tine is reserved for him) and Tine will start to feel /things/ for Sarawat although he’s still in denial abt it. Tine’s plan to chase after Pear also doesn’t go on for too long because of Tine’s inner turmoil. Pear also quits the guitar club not long after and Tine doesn’t know abt it because he stopped contacting Pear sometime after that kiss with Sarawat.
