I hate how AI is being forced into everything. It is very gimmicky and unnecessary.

I like Yang Zi and thought she portrayed Li Zhen well. i was hoping that The Heir would be for Chinese ink what the show Glory became for chinese tea. That latter had an over-the-top story full of twists and turns but also took time to give the audience “tea facts” to explain the history and reality of the tea business. It was highly entertaining and made me appreciative of tea and what it takes to grow harvest and sell it. The Heir unfortunately fell short of that. A combination of slow pacing and a bit of a meandering story disappointed me a bit in the end.

I think it’s funny to watch ML and his sidekick (at least in these early episodes) scheme like they’re in their own little world—a bit overconfident and a bit delusional about what they are actually accomplishing. I also feel like he doesn’t need to do the things he’s doing to get close to the FL because she is already half way there in thinking she should align with him (even though a lot of it is his illness and her thinking he doesn’t have long to live) 😅

the trailer was good. i’m definitely going to give this one a try.

excited to see them in a modern show but didn’t i already see an endless summer show about two ppl reuniting and overcoming heartache and misunderstandings? 🤔

exactly my take on this show. i was so confused about the strong negative reactions to the Zhou Wan character and wondered if i was watching a different show than them. she didn’t go into her plan lightly and it was very much out of desperation and not having better options. she 100% felt terrible over Xixiao ending up in the hospital and his family pressuring her to stay away from him only solidified her guilt over coming to him with less than honorable intentions which led to his physical harm. i did think xixiao, through his psychologically scarred past, became an understandably obsessive person unable to let go of Zhou Wan and while i get that his past trauma made him the way he is, he is the one in the second half of the drama stirring the pot and using pettiness in a toxic way. i’ve seen variations of this plot in short drama as well.

right?? i feel bad for her as she constantly being targeted and bullied for everything. i’m amazed she has a strong sm presence and is able to project a carefree persona still.

Argh I know I have seen the actress who plays the green tea/duke's daughter Fang Li as an FL in at least one other drama but I can't remember her name! T_T

Unveil Jadewind sesason 2 allegedly being DARKER than the first one makes me really nervous. I liked the show, but it was depressing overall.

Good news! Happy for her, although I wish she never had to go through this mess in the first place.

yes, I absolutely enjoyed the show, it was just something I noticed about it. The cast is fantastic--beautiful and talented actors, like is this the most beautiful cast all around?? Even the gross antagonist/villains are hot. The show is gorgeously shot with amazing costumes too.

One thing about this show: if you watch a lot of CDrama, you will find just about every trope from the genre acted out exactly the same with no real deviation or twist. tbh I'm a little surprised that they didn't attempt anything new in tackling these well-worn scenarios. The only really unique thing about this show is the disturbing entanglement between Yu Qianqian and Qi Min....

I've only see two so far. Both were "real heiress returns and destroys family" plots and both characters were the same cold, slightly psychotic personality but I'm fine with it so far since she does it so well. The aura is like Jenna Ortega in Wednesday and I feel like she can make this her "thing" at least for a little while.

She seems to have found a lead role niche in short/vertical drama playing the "dark" heroine archetype. She definitely can pull off a "goth" look and can play the cold, confidently crazy, yet highly calculating FL very well.

I did get to see it! My feeling, however, is still the same--he confronted her with suspicion, not trust. She literally had to tie him up and leave him the finger dagger since she knew that him arguing with her was just going to waste her time. Thinking about it a bit, I do think it's just an interesting juxtaposition and a bit of role reversal--in the beginning it was Huaijin who understood her best, was willing to just support her regardless of what she was going to do and was able to get in front of situations to support her without needing to really get explanations from her. After he lays out his feelings, he shifts to his own needs and this muddles him and their relationship. In the breakup, Peiyi specifically notes that they have two very different perspectives/approaches and that is ok, but that's not going to work for what she has prepared 15 years of her life to do. In the end, though, Peiyi's understanding of Huaijin doesn't become a real obstacle because she knows how to handle him and at the same time give him the opportunity to choose for himself without wasting time or getting in the way.
