I can't take anything at face value in this show lol. But end of episode 26 Shanbao actually confides to him that she doesn't know exactly what to do next. I did not get the sense that she was secretly planning to screw over Jianglai. The teasers are maddening though--they are giving me anxiety lol.

right?? Shanbao gave him the recommendation letter so he can be an official after he passes the Imperial exams...like why tf is he into killing her now?? My guess is that Lord Jiang has something on him, so he's been put in a position of having to go beyond what he would've actually wanted...

tbh, Bai made his own choices. He didn't HAVE to force Yunshu to just run away. IMO Bai's solution was really only good for him personally. He did not really care about why Yunshu did the things she did, nor did he try to find some other solution for her. Now that he is "evil Bai", he isn't even trying to help anyone any more. He's just targeting Shanbao and trying to harm/kill/exploit the Rong family like all the other creeps in the show...

Am I seeing this right? Seeing teasers for ep 27-28 and it looks like Bai is working with Yunshu?! What the heck…
Seems like Bai is more working for Lord Jiang--he is upset about Yunshu's betrayal and wants revenge on not just her, but the entire Rong family, paritcularly Shanbao (if we take it at face value). IMO I think that Bai trying to take out Shanbao just happens to align with what Yunshu wants as well.

I’m really loving this drama. I hope it has a Happy Ending. OMG. 😩🫶
Same! The way the show has been going, I do think we will get a happy ending of sorts. While there is a lot of conflict and tension, the tone of the show has been more about entertainment and "what's going to happen next" rather than trying to make you feel sad.

what is this even about rn? it’s all over the place
Corrupt officials have taken advantage of infighting and loose ends in the Rong family in order to destroy them and exploit their tea business/wealth/reputation. Jinglai and Shanbao are working to try and stop them, but their enemies are powerful and seem to be a step ahead of them.

I won’t lie when the scholar guys said the rong family girls are heartless I disagreed with him bro their grandmother…
Bai and the other outsiders beyond Jianglai have literally proven to the Rong women why they should continue to act the way they act. Like all of them (except Jianglai of course) only care about the reputation and riches of the Rong family. That said, the "Family Rules" are too strict and Madam Rong's ironfist and internal politics have caused the girls to fight amongst themselves and introduce all the outsider chaos. It's clear if they get out of this intact that things do have to change....

I love the interactions between Shanbao and Jianglai. She always teases him and keeps him at bay, but never in a truly malicious way. The scene in her chambers where (again) she knows he snuck in and then asks for his help was too cute. I hope they continue this way even after they inevitably end up together (I'm pretty sure? I don't know? haha)

Yunshu "creating" Evil Bai does not seem like a swerve or a twist, but the way this show has been going, maybe it is? Still, I don't think so based on the episode 27 trailer. I know we can't really take anything at face value with this show, but I do think it's strange that Bai appears to be taking his revenge specifically on Shanbao given that he of all people should know that Shanbao isn't a bad person and doesn't do things selfishly. Him not even trying to understand why Yunshu is doing what she is doing and why she doesn't want to give up everything just to be anonymous with Bai is a little frustrating, but it does fit in with the outsiders of the show just wanting to get what they want at the Rong sisters' expense I guess. Regardless of my thoughts about the characters, I can't believe how packed every episode feels--so much happens in one episode with one disaster after another...each one more devastating than the last. At least Yunyin is now Team Shanbao. Seeing her yap on her behalf feels good haha, I love her. This show feels like falling off a cliff in slow motion sometimes lol...

Title Shine on Me Spoiler
this one is a long courtship that takes up most of the show.
Yusen himself specifically calls it that and most of the show is a very long "Getting To Know You" process for the ML and FL (and us as viewers in a way). They do end up dating in the latter part of the show (they don't even touch lips until episode 27 haha. I agree, it's done very well and is the reason I enjoyed the show.

I'm very happy about this. Neo has many many fans and admirers already, but this show appears to have been a real boost for Nazha and the Short Drama actors who have roles in this as well. I hope Nazha and the supporting female leads get plenty of recognition and future success.

Omg, I’ve just only seen until episode 4 and have already big trust issues.. didn’t expect to like it so far.…
It's mainly the character, but the character does play into her strengths. I've only seen her in the Jackie Chan movies she guest starred in, but based on the titles and their ratings, I do think this show is probably her most memorable role yet.

This show is surprisingly entertaining so far. The first part of the story is like a reality (reali-tea?) show and the characters are so messy, lol. The “tea facts” after certain episodes are neat too.

This review has some profound misunderstandings about the story's goals which are more spiritual in nature and related to Chinese Daoist and Buddhist beliefs. I am wondering if this is caused by the show being presented in a very "Saturday Morning Cartoon" way that uses colorful characters and over-the-top action that maybe something different is being expected by certain viewers?

The character Tang Lisi's story is one where the main focus is on his journey towards enlightenment. His powers are god-like and he tries to be the smartest person in the room all the time, but when the story begins, he really does not know deep down what his life's purpose is nor the full extent of human nature or empathy (hence his "arrogant" and indifferent demeanor), and he has to learn what it means to have human connections and how to deal with the love, pain, suffering, and all other emotions that come from that.

The other characters all have unique personalities and motivations as well and this is one of the few shows I've seen recently that had many side characters that I was actually interested in and enjoyed seeing on screen. Even the villains are colorful and memorable and I found myself rooting for some of them as much as I didn't want them to succeed. I really enjoyed WoF and thought it was well done overall, presenting some very esoteric ideas in a simple, but highly entertaining way.

Sorry I know some folks on here are farther along watching the series already, but as a US Netflix watcher. I thought ep 26 and 27 were bangers. Esp, the end of episode 27. This show is far from perfect, but I'm actually enjoying even the frustrating bits and invested enough to see this through to the end.

For those who were thinking that Yan Xiao is too handsome to be an irredeemable jerk, you will be validated somewhat by episode 22's events. I do find that more than a few of our heroes have some rather frustrating behaviors due to how they decide to navigate the secrets and values they feel they need to uphold, but that's how it goes with these things...
