I feel that although it's very good drama, i don't wait for it because something is missing and it's exitment,…
Some teens can be very childish (like XHT) and others more mature (like YXG) ? I don't think it is that illogical. YXG character has depth though ?

Don't be sorry. I'm not writing to convince you or certain users. I only write for the people who might read this comment section...and I'll stop commenting on this page since I've said what I have to say...People would make their own opinion anyways. Thank you for contributing to that discussion.

I guess I wasn't clear with this study...It was to show that media and cultural products can have an impact on you (it is not "harmless") : for some people, it can support and encourage their violence (since their attitude is in a way normalized), for others, it can make you accept prejudices and social norms even if it can be detrimental to you (you can become insensitive to it). Generally speaking, you are not even aware of it. BL is interesting because it shows how sexist stereotypes (and sexual violence) have been integrated into many minds...even for those who will likely be the main victims of it...

"I think we can safely say that the folks who made this show won't be negatively impacting society with their depictions of violence and rape".

I disagree there. They DO impact society (among many others, indeed thay are not the only ones). Otherwise, how come that stereotypes, prejudices (which belong to an ideology) are still there?

"First, let's be clear that what you are arguing FOR is what we call censure. We already have to put up with Thai censors, so I am not sure what we need is more censorship"

A problematic show even if it portrays homosexual relationships is still a problematic show. So we should shut our mouths because of the fallacious pretext it'll undermine same-sex relationships representation in media ? Weren't you talking about censorship in your post ?

and even self-censorship in another post ?

"No, I get what you are saying but I think people need to get off their high horses and understand that BL is BL. It has its tropes, it has its defects."

Saying (if I understand well) "it's BL it's like that, it will be always like that. Don't bother with it" : Isn't it a way to exert a kind of censorship too ?

When I say : "So yes authors, productors, directors, artists (etc.) do have a responsability in what they want to show (and how they want it to show) to their readers, viewers, etc."
In what way it is censorship ? People who said homophobic words, gave death threats, spread antisemitism have a responsability...and they should assume the consequences of their words or their "acts"...and more especially those who have the power of mass "media" where your message can be widely spread...

Following your example, so when someone tickles you, you stay there laughing without moving?! Now that's an odd…
In my previous answer, I was not talking about the reaction of Type in the episode (well not directly). The problem I have with the series is how it is written and what it wants to show...
My question is still there :
"You have someone who's been raped when he was a child, who's homophobic (or let's say doesn't like men or skinship), who isn't even in a relationship with the protagonist, right ?

Now the question is...(If we think logically and really)...

How would usually a person like that (and with that kind of trauma) react when said roomate comes suddenly into the shower, corners him and doesn't stop even when he says no at the beginning ?"

Someone who has that huge trauma and that kind of past, in real life, would not react like that. So why does the author or the director decide to go with that kind of plot ? What is the purpose ? That's the problem with the series....

"If someone watches this and thinks it is OK to rape someone in their sleep or try something creepy like brush your roommate's hair or kiss his or her cheek while they sleep, and then they get in trouble, well that is their problem."
No it is not "their" problems...Because there are victims who suffer from this...It can happen to everyone...even to you...
The same can be said with racism, homophobia, sexism (and the crimes it leads too). How can you reduce it when you ignore the prejudices and stereotypes heavily conveyed by art and cultural products ?

How would you feel and react if your boyfriend does that to you, by surprise, in the shower and doesn't stop even when you say no the first time ?

".... so the drama does not have so much power as you think. " Media (and cultural products) do have a significant influence on your behavior whether you're aware of it or not (and even more if you were exposed to it when you were younger). Concerning the problem of violence : https://www.researchgate.net/publication/251857630_The_Influence_of_Media_Violence_on_Youth
"Research on violent television and films, video games, and music reveals unequivocal evidence that media violence increases the likelihood of aggressive and violent behavior in both immediate and long-term contexts. The effects appear larger for milder than for more severe forms of aggression, but the effects on severe forms of violence are also substantial (r = .13 to .32) " I guess it might be also the case for sexual violence too...So yes authors, productors, directors, artists (etc.) do have a responsability in what they want to show (and how they want it to show) to their readers, viewers, etc.

Well, they don't know what is "consent" in these BL series (and well, not only in BL series, it's truly a problem in many other series)...Some of you should also research more on sexual violence and their consequences for the victims...I've read highly insensitive comments on this page...I'm also tired that people still don't understand why consent is important otherwise it can only lead to toxic and destructive relationships...oh and the physical reaction is not an argument (=his body likes it -was excited- so that means he consents to it or he wants it eventually...). One "minor" exemple : someone is suddenly tickling you. Of course you'll laugh because of the stimulus but that doesn't mean you really appreciate that (you can be annoyed internally, you want it to stop even if you seem "joyful").
