I was just commenting not to confuse "boring" with "confusing" and sharing the efforts the production team put in for the narration. This is it. Period.

Well, your response is so the ML WWX-style - annoying and actually inviting trouble, rather than making peace, by going the extreme... hahah.. Chill, Just sharing perspective, and never the intent to argue.

The ML reminds me of that smart ass classmate who goofed around in class, yet got the highest grades for exams. This seemingly sassy, unruly ML will show his chivalrous, righteous and sensitive side as the story develops

@rgm Agree with @TianQi that the initial episodes ain't boring. It is probably confusing, rather than boring, with the introduction of many characters, many with more than one name and the fantasy content on sword spirit, dancing goddess statue etc for those new to xianxia drama. The fantasy content though confusing is pretty interesting. The boarding school episodes have comedic moments, introducing the characters and the protagonist's alternate cultivation theory.

As to the sequence of events, three variations (normal timeline narrative, narrative sequence per the novel, and a hybrid of the first two) were written out and pondered over to strike balance in terms of respecting the original novel structure, the logic of the drama itself and the habits of the audience. It is a sincere production, not to be missed.

i'm at episode 15 now, and i recalled there was an earlier episode that Su already told Jing that he was the one whom he would like to support as King. And this later led Jing to inform his mother that he had joined the fight to be the King.,. all these in episode 15 or earlier

Sad ending for Prince of Lan Ling

I'm with you that the brotherhood feeling is stronger overall. In fact, i find that The Untamed is overhyped and mislabeled as BL. The censorship transcends it to a critical wuxia series deeply questioning society values, good vs evil, weak vs strong and judging one's heart. Your scoring of 6.5 however is quite off for "very much worth a watch" and "go and watch it" verdict..

After the initial intro cum character development episodes, the story and plot should start to engage. Hopefully, you will be done with it in no time, just like a roller coaster ride that starts slow and flat before the twists and turns. It will be a wild, untamed ride of emotions :)

Not asking you to move on, but thought you may also enjoy watching Prince of Lan Ling - it's the only drama other than The Untamed that touched me immensely. Though a 2013 production, different genre from The Untamed, it’s almost as touching and good in plot, ost, costumes, sets as well. 50 is actually not as daunting as it appears.. a 40-episode cdrama is just as 20-episode kdrama. The Untamed is a late-bloomer drama. Give it some time. It starts flat and confusing for many but the details will eventually stitch together, tear one to bits and blow one away

Doulou Continent is weaker content-wise, but it is a feel good drama of the protagonist's journey to grow in strength as an individual and with his team, to protect loved ones and the weak and to fight evil.

It is that good. The dramas you have watched and your drama ratings are not listed on your profile, so can't really flesh out what in this drama will resonate with you. Can only say it has elements of a phenomenal drama - plot, cast, chemistry, music, sceneries, costumes, moral values on society norms, good vs evil, strong vs weak, power struggles, friendships, kinships, funny and cheeky at times, and anguish and heart wrenching at times. A must-watch!

If you have enjoyed Prince of Lan Ling, do also check out The Untamed. The production quality is almost as good or better than Prince of Lan Ling, and the drama and its OSTs touched me immensely just like the Prince of Lan Ling.
1. Don't be put off thinking it is a BL drama. Chinese censorship has transcended the mdzs novel into a critical series showcasing Chinese culture, music, sceneries, costumes, intriguing plot on the protagonist’s ordeals going against society, using unorthodox methods to fight evil and help the weak. BL is subtle and acceptable for a homophobic me
2. Don't be put off by its flat and confusing start. It is a late-bloomer drama; the plot and details will progressively stitch together and will eventually tear you into pieces and blow you away.
