I appreciate your reply very much. I too am very shy, but not without agency. More than that, Gene sometimes have plenty of agency, just not when the script need him to. The show is full of extreme inconsistencies: 1. Gene is not stupid but goes for a private meeting with someone he knows is at the very least harboring ill intent. 2. Sib is literally catching his "great love" kissing a guy in a bar. He had to interrupt it to prevent that kiss with his bare hand. nothing. no response other than "u made me worry". Really? 3. Gene is very shy but in just one episode he goes from being on the fence to coming out to his family and friends over dinner. I really do think this show could have been great but it is so far away from the mark it needs help getting there.

As for History4:cty, its practically the opposite of this show. It started very off and got much better. I think the biggest problem these shows have is with the tone. Is it light-hearted? Funny? Dramatic and sad? The tone of this episode was all over the place and was always off for me. as for my top 10: Addicted: heroin, Tharntype, Until we meet again, color rush, he's coming to me, HIStory3: Make Our Days Count (despite the last episode), sotus, We Best Love: No. 1 For You (season 1, not 2), 2gether (season 1, not 2) and HIStory3: Trapped.
I dont understand the love this show is getting. Frankly, I'm extremely disappointed. Gene is a terrible character, especially considering he is a writer. He is extremely slow at understanding what's going on, and communicates almost nothing while being very unclear when he does. The scene at the beginning, in the hotel, was awful. Just awful. That character has no agency, no ability to not be pushed around. I could not believe any of it. It actually gets worse from there, and by some unclear miracle, they actually decide to come out during a family dinner. Does that feel organic or right to anyone? It felt fake and unreal as did the whole episode. One more issue: all the episodes practically require to be watched at a 1.25 speed. It is soooooo slow! by the time a sentence is being spoken I'm already annoyed out of my mind. Honestly, I dont think I'll be watching this for much longer.
