Looking at the situation, it becomes clear that both the family and the vlogger in question enjoy support from the press and television. What’s more, even the police failed to act against this vlogger, despite the fact that he was under a broadcasting ban. This obvious protection gives them free rein to continue their campaign of defamation online, where information is rarely verified and public opinion ends up being treated like a court of law. For an ordinary viewer, this is incredibly frustrating. I can hardly imagine what it must feel like personally for Kim Soo Hyun, or for his mother. It’s a crushing burden, almost impossible to endure mentally, when everyone feels entitled to judge you based solely on what they choose to believe.
I cannot understand how some people choose to spend so much energy denigrating and judging others. Because of this behavior, many celebrities end up losing their peace of mind, or even their lives. The internet often becomes a place where people seem more concerned with destroying than with understanding. Instead of turning this platform into a battlefield, it would be healthier to focus on your own lives. It is so sad and frightening what happened to Yu Menglong. I can’t get out of my mind the thought that maybe it wasn’t just an accident, but something much darker. It seems that in this industry, as in many others, there are corners where the truth is covered up, rumors are born, and people’s voices get lost in silence or censorship.
