I now have a clear favourite among Chinese dramas, even beyond the great fantasies with amazing worlds, epic romances and phenomenal fight scenes. This is a straight up thriller and it was phenomenal! Certainly the best modern day Chinese drama imho. It was great from start to finish; something to re-watch even with a known ending.
The action was amazing. The plot was so tight, so gripping and so fast. No plot holes and not a single wasted moment ... so the drama's length was perfect. And all of the performances were so very effective. I have two new favourite actors and some new character actor faces to watch out for in the future.
In short, this was really an excellent drama. Short, sweet and very nearly perfect. Highly recommended! (9.5 - 10.0)
I think that the central message is this: Nobody is perfect. We, each, usually, have some very fundamental flaws. But, if people can get past them, to find the good things that are also a part of us ... we can each improve a little bit ... and still enjoy our lives to the fullest.
So, don't give up on people, or characters, too quickly. There are quite a few (in life, in dramas and in this drama) that I could easily walk away from because I'd like to punish them for doing something that was wrong, petty or just terribly misguided ...
But giving up and walking away ... in search of perfect people who don't exist ... means that you miss the payoff. And the payoff is great ... if you hang in there just a little bit ... and you look at the part of the jar that's half full. Which is one of the big lessons in life, right?
Anyway, the jar is much more than half full for this drama. It's a good watch. The story is simple enough ... so it flows well. The characters are imperfect people with good hearts who, occasionally, get things all wrong and then find their way back again. The performances are excellent; natural, convincing, moving ... and, often, very, very funny.
So, I gave it an 8.5 and I recommend it for the touching and humorous moments that make it shine.
I don't think that you understood the drama. That is not the point at all.It is a story about repentance not time…
Didn't you assume and judge people when you said that people must be simps if they enjoyed the drama? So, it seems to me that you threw the first punch when it comes to insults.
