In 'Ancient Love Poetry', Bai Jue dedicates 60,000 years exhausting his Power of Original Being to delay the tribulation of chaos and search for Shanggu's "lingering ghost." Since Shanggu's essence was fragmented, she is no longer fully Shanggu. A True God's essence included their Original Being, immense spiritual power, divine nature, and soul, which together define their identity and cosmic role. Bai Jue's efforts were aimed at nurturing these fragments to eventually restore her to her full essence. He then nurtures her spirit for another 40,000 years drawing on the God-reincarnation spell, which required half of his remaining power. After 40,000 years, the spell succeeds, leading to the birth of Houchi in the form of a baby. Shanggu's spirit will take another 100 years to fully awaken within this body. Meanwhile, Houchi is a separate entity who carries part of essence of Shanggu but is not fully Shanggu. When Shanggu eventually awakens, her full essence is restored, and Houchi will no longer exist in the same way, as Shanggu will have fully returned. Houchi's existence is deeply intertwined with Shanggu's spirit, making them two aspects of the same essence. Bai Jue's nurturing and the eventual birth of Houchi from Shanggu's lingering spirit involve a mystical process of rebirth. Bai Jue only wanted Houchi to live carefree happy life the way Shanggu would have wanted, until Shanggu awakens. He never intended for Houch to fall in love with Qing Mu because there was never supposed to be a Qing Mu.

In order to obtain the Power of Chaos, Bai Jue endured the pain of splitting his Original Being to create Qing Mu's body, allowing Qing Mu to fully absorb the air of demon. Bai Jue intended to mix with Qing Mu to gain the Power of Chaos. However, during this process, an unexpected event occurred where Bai Jue failed to seal Qing Mu's Power of Original Being on the first attempt. As a result, Qing Mu developed his own spiritual strength and grew up in the North Sea and fell in love with Houchi. Qing Mu is neither reincarnation nor rebirth. Qing Mu is a separate manifestation of Bai Jue's original spirit. The process involved creating an avatar or second identity using part of Bai Jue's power. When Bai Jue and Qing Mu's identities eventually merge, Bai Jue will return to his true form and Qing Mu will no longer exist in the same way. Qing Mu's existence demonstrates Bai Jue's immense power and the lengths he goes to in order to not let Shanggu die. Tian Qi told him he was crazy to split his Original Being because he could have easily died.

In the drama, they hint that Houchi still exists in Shanggu as Shanggu spoke the same words that Houchi did regarding her son's name and what to tell him about his father. Also, in the last great battle, Qing Mu came out of Bai Jue to fight. Also, Tian Qi said to Bai Jue when he met up with him at Gu Jun's memorial, "Still deny you are Qing Mu?"

Romance is not the focus but for me, there are romantic moments. I thought it was quite romantic when he tried to tell her he liked her. That scene was really well done. OR how she left the light on for him and he was touched by it, or how she tried to cheer him up with that cute and silly outfit and song. He bought up the flowers for her so the other guy couldn't. He carried her to hospital. There were many other tender moments too. It's just not the typical idol romance.

Xu Kai said the director told them not to open their eyes so wide because they both have such big eyes so it's weird. It makes no sense to me unless the director is doing some serious close ups. I would think this director is creative and would make use of the big eyes.

There was no big anticipation or buzz about this drama to draw in more viewers prior to it airing, and yet it did so well. In fact, it aired with some negative perception that did not materialize.

You are right. People should not judge a drama solely based on its ratings. For producers, popularity is what matters most because it's directly linked to revenue, not ratings. Anyway, all ratings are biased and include haters and subject to manipulation. The Douban user count is interesting I think it gives indication of how popular a drama is and so far, MM has accumulated 165K which is quite high which is in line.

I think the rating for SAF6 is more reflection of type of storytelling that is not a typical idol romance because the story, acting, casting, and production quality is very good.

it's not sci fi but fantasy so don't try to make sense out of it. at least sci fi is based on scientific theories that have logic, but fantasy they can make up things to carry the story along
