As a fan of Yiyi CP, it concerns us too that both Zhou Yiran and Zhang Miaoyi's upcoming dramas are school dramas, especially for Miaoyi as she had four upcoming school dramas set to air this year. Comparison ain't inevitable especially WIFTY was successful internationally and in mainland considering Youku didn't promote the drama, their trailer was out just days before its airing, I don't quite remember if there's a reservation with WIFTY, only trailer and some photos are out, it was just suddenly posted in Youku, well it's good marketing though that their characters have their own weibo account, right after airing an episode they'll interact with each other as if they were really a real people which really helps in promotion, and now it's a hit June drama along with Hidden Love, it's a surprise for us that they've got 9000 popularity heat index, with them keeping up with rising stars in popularity ranking and having 7.5 douban score as their streaming platform neglects them with promotion both leads aren't rising stars nor traffic actors even Youku aren't anticipating this success, so glad both are having the support they deserves now, they've really gone through a lot, the drama don't have enough budget for production, Cattree, the director, even need to ask for funds with his actor friends, they halt filming due to COVID-19, they even change some actors due to conflict with schedule and have to relocate the filming site, their filming for this drama lasts for 3 years, I even thought Exclusive Fairytale will air first since WIFTY really encounters a lot of setbacks while filming.
As for Exclusive Fairytale, I do hope iQiyi will invest so much as they can with the drama promotions such as interviews, variety show, consistent lives with casts etc., it will help them to have a support in mainland but they're so notorious for not promoting their dramas so well, both Youku and iQiyi sucks at this department. It's good though that both fandoms of Miaoyi and Jun are promoting the drama in different platforms, many of us, WIFTY fans are anticipating this one as Miaoyi got this role when she was currently filming WIFTY until the latter got to postponed their filming, Exclusive Fairytale got to finish their shooting first than WIFTY. We are excited to see how different Xiao Tu is with Su Zaizai. Well even though comparison is something we can't avoid, it's good that casual viewers are looking forward for this drama as it's a good promo for them, iQiyi should utilize the success Miaoyi is getting from WIFTY, Youku been doing that already e.g. Love Between Fairy and Devil was a hit drama from iQiyi later after it's done airing Youku's drama with Esther Yu, A Romance of the Little Forest was aired and it's successful, iQiyi and MGTV's Unforgettable Love was so popular too, Youku later on drop their youth drama A river runs through it since it has the same female lead with the latter. Nonetheless, if Exclusive Fairytale have a good script and good storytelling it will be a hit drama too like When I Fly Towards You, the success of WIFTY was because of how good it was written. Hoping for the best with this drama and looking forward for Jun and Miaoyi's CP dyanamics. I really just hope it will air this July.
Became a new fan of them. Zhou Yiran didn't left an impression on me with his character in Falling into your smile also in other drama he was in, Twenty your life on 2 maybe because his role on these dramas are just "leading man" of a certain character, I love him on Please Classmate and A little mood for love though it's another supporting role for him, that's when I realized he is really for school/campus type of character considering his age too, he is really perfect for that kind of drama. I have to drop his lead role drama The sweetest secret as it gets boring halfway through the first couple of episodes. He did fit his role as the youngest sibling in The Bond though but his screentime there was very much limited. As I can see on social media especially on TikTok, a lot much prefer him as Ai Jia, maybe because of the clingy and bubbly boyfriend personality he had on FIYS but I like him more here as Zhang Lurang as he perfectly embodied an introverted person. He made me feel that Rangrang really exists, rather than being a certain type of character he actually had more personality here, he didn't have much dialogue here as Rangrang is an introvert but you can really feel his character a lot more in this series than the other portrayal he did in other dramas, the awkwardness and shyness was well portrayed. Not to mention the clingy type boyfriend he became when he and Zaizai officially become a couple, his character development came so smoothly and gradually, it wasn't forced, you can really see how he slowly opens up with his friends especially Zaizai. Both of them made me feel that I was with them through out the drama, their transition from high school, university and workforce to marriage was rightfully done, kudos to behind the camera crew for that (it's painful to wait for 3 days for episode 19 but I can see why the production decided to have that gap in releasing the episodes, lucky for those new watchers they wouldn't experience that kind of waiting hahaha). Nonetheless, I became a fan of Yiran here and Miaoyi too, this is my first drama with her but I became a fan already as they really amazed me with their portrayal, considering they're new and not traffic actors they've done a really good job. Right now I am waiting for their upcoming school dramas, there are melons that those will air anytime soon this year since it already got license distribution, well Miaoyi's upcoming are mostly school dramas, maybe she'll going to be the high school queen of cdramas just kidding, she did fit as student though! Anyway, even though I'm waiting for those I can't seem to move on with these two, I keep rewatching When I Fly Towards You, both of them really had a perfect chemistry, I really love their dynamics.
iQiyi needs to take this chance to air this drama while When I fly Towards you was still the talk of the town, it's also a good promo for this show as most of WIFTY fans are looking forward for Zhang Miaoyi and Zhou Yiran's new dramas. ZYR's drama with Dafei will air anytime soon now as what I've heard with its drama fans(You Are My Desire). That promo move was done as well with other dramas like when Love Between Fairy and Devil became a hit, Youku released Esther's A Romance of the Little Forest right away, both dramas are successful. Ding Yuxi's drama got aired almost the same time during 2020 with wetv's The romance of tiger and rose and mgtv's Intense Love, both are hit dramas making DYX as MAY boyfriend of that year. Zhao Lusi's dramas are simultaneously airs in different platforms too, one example was after Gen Z, Hidden Love was aired and those are successful dramas too. With Miaoyi's hit drama When I Fly Towards You considering she wasn't a traffic actress it's a good thing to make the same promo move, they should have take this chance with the success she is getting right now. Well I'm still pretty sure this will be a hit too knowing it's a drama with a very successful idol but the success ZMY is getting right now will be a great help too to promote the drama. WIFTY just surpassed ALSB and My Huckleberry Friends' following in douyin which is a great feat for a youth drama as those are the most followed youth drama in that site. I hope same thing will happen or even surpass the WIFTY achievements with Exclusive Fairytale. Anyway, been looking forward to this since 2021, I really thought this one will air first as WIFTY got postponed their filming for months, they even change some casts and film the series for a year or two but they're the one who got to air first.
