Superlative!definitely re-watch sometime〜full review I do not know where to start but some comments about the ending I have put in a review。 Comparing this with 「The Untamed」 I liked the relationship between Zhou and Wen more here as it felt closer and happier (especially if you use your imagination)given the restrictions the producer had to work within〜 but I prefer the ending of 「The Untamed」〜update with the epilogue just seen I think I can say my imagined ending fits with the story there
slow start trying hard to be funny but bringing smile rather than laugh out loud but at episode 4 begins to be more interesting so will follow for now though not sure I am brave enough to advance for 30 episode〜the gay characters are nice characters and the drama does show the prejudice they face from family and society〜 it is sad in 2021 the Chinese censors promote backward attitudes rather than an inclusive society
certainly set in different background from usual school drama which I find interesting〜 there is room for some social class comment although of course a romanticised view of technical schools as this is fiction〜as to the girl in boys school trope、this has a different more original feel than similar dramas: of course heroine is too good to be true as we would all like to be but this is fiction!and then also a love triangle but it feels like this was put in as part of the formula and is not a main focus〜but interesting plot elements showing hard background stories of some students 〜such as one involving single parent、 another financially struggling〜 really add interest and are well developed though finally it is obviously intended as inspirational message for teenagers rather than realistic 〜still no boring part and I liked this more as I watch it really good show so 10 / 10
this is a story of war and politics. how more masculine can you get? the book wasn´t even overly romantic, the…
I am quoting from south china morning post and they get it from Chinese censor's office 〜and to add one of the top female artists has just been "disappeared" 〜I agree China is killing its culture and the best way to raise positive profile in the World when it is easy target for attacks from the West
I'm sorry to advise but the Chinese censorship office has recently specifically singled out what it calls "sissy" actors and "effeminate" depictions on screen as to be clamped down on and banned from TV screens with the excuse they have to " protect children" and also want more "masculine" portrayals. This comes right from the top and is part of President Xi's current campaign of social and economic reform. So I'm afraid this may be the reason nothing is being heard. Tencent, Alibaba and Meituan have been subject to particular criticism/scrutiny so have to move very carefully. Sorry but I'm only the messenger.
This is more a coming of age story with most of the usual themes of this genre, angst, fun and friendship, beginning to form mature relationships, some violence and anger, father/son conflict with the ballet being a "different" sub- theme around which the characters and story can come together Nothing outstanding but good of its kind〜I put it at 8/10 slightly more than the average score
not exactly the beginning I was expecting 〜the heroine seems pretty neurotic but if I discovered a corpse I suppose I would be too(๑⃙⃘°̧̧̧ㅿ°̧̧̧๑⃙⃘) meanwhile it's the usual bubbling cauldron of K-drama mystery including ruthless local businessman・politician、 alienated wife、rookie junior policeman providing the light relief、spooky village gossips and weirdos、obnoxious school students and teachers、 casual romance 〜riveting so far plenty to hook me into seeing how it develops though at 16 episodes I wonder if it can retain interest?yes it is keeping me waiting for the next episode seems to be classic mystery K-drama〜I decided to try this because of yook sung jae and as expected I like his character best
seeing vaaberalla review :but it seems chinese government censorship is now shutting down what they call ”effeminacy” in media production and want to promote ”masculinity” in children!!which for me is both homophobic and sexist and they are also attacking actors and as we know have persecuted authors of same sex work for years〜really do not underestimate the nastiness of these authorities they are bad people〜may be why other danmei drama we are waiting for from tencent are now held up [report in south china morning post]
First a general point. it is unfortunate that the traditional emphasis on community, family, groups in Japanese society, which tended to stamp on anyone out of synch with social norms is truly reflected in the type of bullying in schools typical of Japanese school drama。 Like others I thought this drama would be more comic but it is actually quite depressing with the bullying tropes and unremittingly dark (actions of some students in this drama are extreme to point of sociopathic (but this I suppose is part of the fictional exaggeration for dramatic effect)。 however despite the darkness it hooks you as a very good school mystery genre for the first 10,5 episodes and the the evil is counterbalanced in that it is effectively being challenged by Baba (and later her friends)。especially moving is the genuine feeling and character of Baba's passion in the last episode which unravels the mystery and the darkness。it is also a good satire at times on uncaring or just ineffective teachers and teacher to teacher bullying (in one episode at least)。the final episode is nicely finished and neatly resolved、 though the festive side departs from any sense of realism and is rather out of character with most of the story 〜still this is a drama where fictional dramatisation is used very well to cover real social problems though I am happy to say bullying is becoming less of a problem in my experience〜finally I really liked the music of Exile here。
