ending - actually the ending as to handling the entrance results for me is still morally wrong though I see why they decided to do it that way as a comment on the system but it seems they repeat the same mistake and learn nothing〜 again the epilogue section I see why they do it like that but for me it is still too neat and ”sugary” but predictable and does not detract from quality of drama as a whole〜
so when I saw:”the evil spirit that takes the poor kids that get bad grades”〜 I thought is this for real ?sound like my mathematic teacher was after my bad テスト(test)!but actually it is that typical mixture of comic and horror only k〜drama is able to do well〜 so I am hopeful I will like it〜
nearly dropped it after slow confusing episode 1 but after that it became EXTREMELY good mystery plot around the pressurised exam system but looked at very much from the teacher's viewpoint and examining their interactions, characters and motivations as well as how the students handle it 〜good example of Japanese drama taking an overused trope and seeing it from a new angle 〜some real star dramas can be found from these old dramas and will check out Minato's book🔆
I think this is victim to Chinese authorities crackdown banning what they call "effeminate" or "sissy" actors and any GL or BL on kids games or blogs now banned and Tencent and its owners specifically are under attack and must act very carefully〜these officials are really nasty and taking orders from the top of the communist party down and are now openly homophobic and giving in to worst prejudices of the majority society:they see anything or anyone deviating from norms as threat to their society and political system〜 so I think these shows may be cancelled or at best suspended until they are changed beyond recognition〜〜 I hope not but this is what is going on
glad they did this and I think it corresponds with my imagined future for Wen and Zhou as noted in my main review〜 but it would have been better somehow to include in last episode of series alsoI feel it could have been longer and also especially have shown how they were reunited and more of their afterlife together💛〜〜 I can also imagine a sequel〰️🔅
very emotional tearjerker〜 short but original take on BL genre which was not clear from reading synopsis 〜though this maybe not a bad thing〜good sub-plot resolved at end〜 very good production values could re-watch in right mood in the future 〜〜I could imagine a sequel to this but can not say more without giving away the story
maybe as the show seems to involve all men it will pass the censor's recent demands for more "masculinity" in productions and they are so dumb they will overlook what they call "sissy" refinements of costume, cosmetics, long hair
Superlative!definitely re-watch sometime〜full review I do not know where to start but some comments about the ending I have put in a review。 Comparing this with 「The Untamed」 I liked the relationship between Zhou and Wen more here as it felt closer and happier (especially if you use your imagination)given the restrictions the producer had to work within〜 but I prefer the ending of 「The Untamed」〜update with the epilogue just seen I think I can say my imagined ending fits with the story there
slow start trying hard to be funny but bringing smile rather than laugh out loud but at episode 4 begins to be more interesting so will follow for now though not sure I am brave enough to advance for 30 episode〜the gay characters are nice characters and the drama does show the prejudice they face from family and society〜 it is sad in 2021 the Chinese censors promote backward attitudes rather than an inclusive society
certainly set in different background from usual school drama which I find interesting〜 there is room for some social class comment although of course a romanticised view of technical schools as this is fiction〜as to the girl in boys school trope、this has a different more original feel than similar dramas: of course heroine is too good to be true as we would all like to be but this is fiction!and then also a love triangle but it feels like this was put in as part of the formula and is not a main focus〜but interesting plot elements showing hard background stories of some students 〜such as one involving single parent、 another financially struggling〜 really add interest and are well developed though finally it is obviously intended as inspirational message for teenagers rather than realistic 〜still no boring part and I liked this more as I watch it really good show so 10 / 10
this is a story of war and politics. how more masculine can you get? the book wasn´t even overly romantic, the…
I am quoting from south china morning post and they get it from Chinese censor's office 〜and to add one of the top female artists has just been "disappeared" 〜I agree China is killing its culture and the best way to raise positive profile in the World when it is easy target for attacks from the West
I'm sorry to advise but the Chinese censorship office has recently specifically singled out what it calls "sissy" actors and "effeminate" depictions on screen as to be clamped down on and banned from TV screens with the excuse they have to " protect children" and also want more "masculine" portrayals. This comes right from the top and is part of President Xi's current campaign of social and economic reform. So I'm afraid this may be the reason nothing is being heard. Tencent, Alibaba and Meituan have been subject to particular criticism/scrutiny so have to move very carefully. Sorry but I'm only the messenger.
again the epilogue section I see why they do it like that but for me it is still too neat and ”sugary”
but predictable and does not detract from quality of drama as a whole〜
