on the surface this was a fine comedic drama until episode 5、 when it turns into a dark parable and the early story takes on deeper meaning with a true psychopath emerging and we can compare someone granted power who uses it well with someone having power who uses it for evil
some critical comments on the ending which was rather overdone I think : 1the idea anyone can present a construction bidding proposal having just faced death by fire and the stabbing of his true love is about as far from reality as you get 、you would need to have a heart of stone which completely contradicts the emotional character just displayed by Jung Da On 2it is becoming a tiresome trope in BL dramas the idea you can go through hell, anguish and near death of yourself and/or your true love and then happily agree one of you flies off to secure your business career abroad while your true love waits for you for a year: if this is supposed to inject real life into drama then it is totally misconceived as actually it's totally UNrealistic 〜 please let's just have happy endings and leave sordid mercenary motives out of romantic dramas 。
the word for this drama is tortuous、 both relationships and plot I think though things came together in the end (with some reservations for me ) very emotional and sweet and the epilogues in each episode provide an interesting context🌈❤️
seeing more of this I would say do not go by first impressions〜the contract idea is rather difficult to believe especially given the character of Su Hyeon
Cosmic🌟☄️〜 especially in final episodes though the ending was a little rushed and lacking in intimacy I thought but maybe in character for teenagers struggling to define their identity❤️🌈
"Don't be afraid of the cracks, that's where the light comes in." I like Taiwanese lgbt dramas because they treat the stories seriously and sensitively, with plenty of space for character development、 though in Unknown there is maybe a little too much space I think。 of course this may reflect the story itself as it is predicated on Wei Qian only being able to accept his feelings over a long period of time however、 against this we have the "four years later" trope which I am unsympathetic to as a device。 Some of the action in the middle such as the re-surfacing of the gang theme and its violence could have been left out without detracting from the story in my opinion.。for me the OST also became intrusive as in many dramas unfortunately and producers should realize songs do not replace a script and even silence has more effect in certain romantic situations. however these are minor criticisms of a well crafted and sensitive drama. I accept we need to know of this early stage in Qian's story to understand his eye problem later、 as also the flashbacks to his mother、a marked contrast (intended dramatically I assume)to the family he managed to create and foster..I particularly like the photos of various stages in the family's relationship in the end credits❤️🌈
this really goes downhill with episode 10,: O Su A's mother coming to the rescue is absurd、 the first thing any villanous chairwoman would do to find hidden gold would be survey and dig into the school foundations、they can do it with pyramids so why not an ordinary school?and the whole tone of the show becomes too close to slapstick with romance thrown in 〜still fun and recommended just to see Seeo Kang Joon in school uniform but disappointingly unsophisticated closing episodes
it's not openly sexual but for me if you use your imagination it's homoerotic [especially from Lu Zheng's side] so much more interesting when things are not so obvious I think
my UNcensored conclusion about the final relationship between Li Wu and Lu Zheng [as Shu Tang sails conveniently into the distance] is that the jealous Lu Zheng finally got ........his man❤️🌈
Final view yes this was very enjoyable action drama if you do not try to work out intricacies of plot politics and s on and just appreciate the action and characters maybe there was some very deep coordinated plan to bring together all the pieces of the puzzle in the finale.............if so it eluded this viewer the political plot supposedly behind everything had no resolution at all like the emperor hidden behind the veil it vanished into thin air I liked most of the characters very much even with their defects [except maybe the real Li Dongfang] and this kept me watching though if the resolution of their complex relationships in the final few episodes followed a carefully worked out plan again it rather eluded me how they overcame so many negative disjunctions to find themselves where they were [though I do understand why Li Wu deliberately alienated Lu Zheng over the "killing two fathers" matter and his hope or expectation Lu Zheng would keep to the trust of their "one horse ridden by both" oath good therefore but for me this started very promisingly but the script spun so many threads that it gradually unravelled and I could only enjoy it by following the flow and using imagination to fill iin the gaps this goes especially for the final resolution of the relations between the main characters

I liked most of the characters very much even with their defects [except maybe the real Li Dongfang] and this kept me watching though if the resolution of their complex relationships in the final few episodes followed a carefully worked out plan again it rather eluded me how they overcame so many negative disjunctions to find themselves where they were [though I do understand why Li Wu deliberately alienated Lu Zheng over the "killing two fathers" matter and his hope or expectation Lu Zheng would keep to the trust of their "one horse ridden by both" oath
