I agree. In one instance, the episode showed the ML slapping his sister in the face, but the argument that led up to it was cut out! Luckily, the full length episodes are available to watch on YouTube now.

Their fake relationship starts in episode 8. They progress quite gradually after that, I would say episode 22 is when it becomes properly real.

Hmm, actually I found the story to be pretty complex, especially the business dealings, and you sometimes couldn't tell if people were acting or being serious.

Thank you so much! I used to watch this on Viki before it got taken down, and it quickly became my favourite C-Drama. I spent 7 years looking forward to being able to finish it. I even started working on the SRT adjustments myself at one point, but I only managed to publish episode 1 online before stalling because I was a bit daunted by how much work it involved. I always planned to continue but never found the time. You have done a great service to the community!

They are both based on the same novel, but Weiyoung is based on the first half of the novel and Song of Glory is based on the second half. However, as both shows took a lot of artistic license in how they adapted the novel, and went in different directions, it leads to the shows not being that much related.

Also, they do have some shared crew between the two shows.

The full series is on YouTube with English hard subs. Presumably based on the work db23 did to sync those.

Stuff which makes no sense:
1. The ending. I know people are saying that maybe she didn't die but if that's true then why does she appear to pass out immediately after drinking?
2. Hong Dan's death is never explained or how she became involved with the plot with Xue Qiu
3. Lu Wan kept telling herself that she can't kill Jingling, but this makes no sense in the context that Wang Mian never tried to kill Jingling, it was the fake Zhe Que Alliance as part of the plot by ML&FL
4. How did ML get to the Wang manor so quickly after Lu Wan's intervention? Given he was in prison literally right before that.
5. Why did A Nu have the magnolia bracelet when it was actually Li Ge who was the biological daughter of the Shen family

Most of these points are from the last few episodes - it seems like the writers just gave up.

The letter is from the emperor and says that he has to execute Li Ge in the next 3 days due to her connection to the assassins. She finds out and wants to protect him from giving up his position to save her.

He has a lot of power because he's in a high position in the court, which he holds onto because of his family relation to the prince's mother. I didn't find his covert dealings to be that unbelievable. He's very strategic.

She doesn't die a horrible death but she does die eventually yes. I felt the same as you while watching the show.

It's definitely not what I would call "happy". The ending is a bit confusing and open to interpretation; the easiest explanation is a very tragic ending, but there's another interpretation that it's not quite as bad as it appears. Overall it's a bit of a frustrating ending that will likely leave you with a bitter taste in your mouth.
