the issue that the original commenter was talking abt was the relationship on-screen. fl was shown a literal highschooler, ml was shown a grown ass adult. true, at the time, the actress filming was an adult in her mid twenties, and she most likely was comfortable with the actor. however, the portrayal of a high schooler dating a grown adult, (his body is stuck at his 30's) is rightfully unsettling. this drama reached tons of people, basically everyone has seen it. although it wasn't the writer's intention, its lwk validating the romance of a high schooler and a grown adult.

like my main issue with goblin, is that accordingly, lee yeon's human form was in his 30's. however, in goblin we aren't given any representation of mr. goblin's age, so heck, this could well be showing a love between a highschooler & and a middle aged man (40-60)😭

a big thing here is his intentions of watching her grow up. ah eum had always hung around lee yeon, (bc she wanted to grow stronger idk), but since we aren't given enough clips of their interactions when ah eum was younger, we can't declare it to be grooming. yes, they dated when she was of age, (30) and their story was portrayed when she was of age. from the clips that we are given, ah eum & lee yeon's interactions when she was young were literally just "who tf is this weird kid, coming on my turf, and treating me like a dog??" things started to change when ah eum grew up (ji ah's adult face), and they developed feelings.🤓

i had a stroke reading this btw, but! idk abt ah eum and lee yeon, but i hope/assume that their feelings started to really take place when she was legal, since the portrayal of their love was shown when she was an adult? anyway, for the modern world romance between ji ah & lee yeon, although he had met her, (in that hell of a nightmare idk) it was briefly, only to test if she were ah eum's reincarnation. ji ah & lee yeon truly fell in love when she was in her 30's. all of this confusion is why i'm never a big fan of xianxia/fantasy dramas like these.😭😮💨
kissing may be a part of acting, but im assuming they meant that it is not required. personally, i get that kissing someone (intimate??), especially if that person isn't your loved one, is uncomfortable. her acting is separate from her boundaries. tbh idek if this drama has kissing in it, since im on also kinda at the beginning.
