https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qD0wUbJUxcgZLY was drowning and ABB was laughing, she distracted the crowd, there…
jesus christ you're an idiot.
i'm going to hold your hand while i say this: this video has nothing to do with ab laughing while zly was drowning. The clip that you used of zly "drowning," is complete bullshit. Right after this clip, the video shows an segment of an interview post production, where zly herself admitted that producers intentionally gave them scripts, or told them to act like this to garner more attention/hot topics. To spell that out for you: this means that zhao liying did not drown, she acted this way because the producers told her to play it up for the script. and there's no way in hell she COULD drown because the water is like 5ft deep and everyone else could literally stand up comfortably in the water.
the video then goes on to give an example of ab almost dying from another instance, where a heavy ball smacked her head first and sent her to the hospital. also talked about reba getting flung into the water. the point of the video was that pao nan had some safety problems, and mcs could easily get hurt. you took it completely out of context.

next time, if you aren't chinese and can't understand manderin, then don't use a chinese video to justify a completely bullshit point. it just makes you look real stupid.

On Joy of Life Season 2 Jun 19, 2024
really confused about the mixed comments here. s2 was far better than s1 imo. I went back and rewatched s1 specifically to compare them, and yep, s2 is far far superior. it's not even a debate.

for anyone who is on the fence about watching s2 because they've been confused by the comment section and don't want to ruin their memories of s1, i'll do a quick comparison of the 2 seasons below.
season 2:
-expands on the villains and gives them much more depth. especially the 2 princes. ik during s1 there were a lot of times where we questioned why the crown prince was even the crown prince, and s2 does a great job in explaining exactly why.
-is much more political. if s1 is more wuxia focused and fast-paced, s2 slows it down and gives the story more nuance. fan xian isn't an unbeatable, all powerful hero. s2 shows his pitfalls, especially when trying to confront the second prince. obviously, fan xian doesn't "lose" in any major way. most of his "losses" are there for character development and to reinforce his determination to uphold justice. nobody important dies. fan xian still beats everyone with his mind games
-shows fan xian gaining influence. for most of season 2, fan xian's martial arts are impaired, so the season is focused on him expanding his influence in court and rising to become a prominent minister. if you were looking for fight after fight and lots of wuxia, sorry that's not s2. fan xian gains a lot of helpers in s2, and gains power to fight against the 2nd prince. most of it is scheming and politics.

addressing the cons:
-some people noted that the plot was draggy and that fan xian's conflict with the 2nd prince seemed to drag on for way too long. i actually think it's the opposite. the 2nd prince is a highly influential figure in court, otherwise he wouldn't have half the ministers on his side. taking him down shouldn't be a 10 episode scheme. s2 is comprised of fan xian slowly chipping away at the 2nd prince's supporters and foundation. obviously not enough to cripple the 2nd prince, but enough to make him less stable than before.
-some people complained about the lack of wuxia in this season. honestly, the reason for that is just because it gets too repetitive. s1 was already wuxia-heavy. we know that fan xian can fight. can he also navigate politics? from s1 we also knew that fan xian was not either of the princes political opponent, and was only an important minister because he had chen pingping, his father, and the emperor there to protect him. but fan xian wants to topple the 2nd prince? how? he was an important minister in name only in s1. basically his only helper was wang qinian, and gao da. s2 addresses this plot point, and makes fan xian's accession to power much more realistic.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by ‘fourtry from wyf’. What happened to jinmai???
wu yifan (the guy who raped underage girls) had his eye on zhao jinami during a reality show they filmed together called"fourtry." ab stepped in and protected jinami from his advances. (wyf is the shorthand for kris wu/wu yifan)

Title Twilight
This ML is the most boring actor alive. All his dramas are always boring and he never have chemistry with the…
YOU SEE IT. i've been saying this for ages. ren jialun is one of the most overrated "big" actors ever. I thought wang yibo was bad enough but RJL is far far worse. he literally just reuses the same quirked eyebrows and face over and over again in any "emotional" scene. he can basically only play the emotionless and cold hot guy

Thank you for the detailed summary btw. Yes, YF strangled Mom, but Mom is not some good domestic motherly type…
yes, i wasn't saying anything against YF. obviously he's the "good" character here. I was simply pointing out that ml was also justified in killing YF and I saw it more as an act of self defense (because if he didn't fight back against YF, then he quite literally would've gotten strangled himself along with his mother). i feel like mty's character is refreshingly humane and I can actually see a real human being instead of the typical "crazy righteous hero conquers cultivation world" plot which has been redone in with hundreds of different actors in thousands of different dramas.

So if you know that the ml grew up in such an environment, I'm not sure why you still have such high moral expectations for him. He literally grew up surrounded by these kinds of parents, so obviously his own moral compass will be a skewed. Just because his mom's morally grey herself, doesn't mean she wasn't his motherly figure. When YF strangled her, the ml reacted because even if she was in the wrong, he still saw her as his mother. in the context of his background and upbringing, i'm not sure why you guys expected him to be some kind of righteous hero. he's literally just some robber that wants to survive and gain glory from cultivation. he's not like this heroic figure lmfao. the nuance of his character is partly what makes it worth watching. rarely in these types of dramas is the ml portrayed as the "villain." if you want a ml that's purely righteous go watch chen qing ling, dou po cang qiong, or xue zhong han dao xing. mty's character is meant to be morally grey.

One would think Baby’s acting would have improved by now, does she even try to study?
her acting is fine in this one. you're probably referring to the awkward dubbing, which is not related to her acting ability. i think her facial expressions were a lot less stiff. one of the first times i can actually make out emotions just from looking at her face.

Ok this is a long one, but I'm just going to break down a few of the things I'm seeing in the comments so far.

Ml:
don't know why everyone's so negative in the comments below. i watched a few episodes so far and it's pretty good. the cgi at the beginning is a little cringe, but the plot is good and lighthearted. I actually really like the ml, not sure why everyone's bashing him in the comments. i see people saying that he's a fraud and lacks morals. He killed the guy because he was strangling his mother? And the ml's character background is literally a robber, I'm not sure why you guys have such high moral expectations for someone who literally loots other people for a living, Regardless, I like the morally grey element to it. The plot thus far is pretty light-hearted and if you can make it past the cgi at the beginning, the rest of the drama is pretty good.

Acting:
Ab's acting is actually quite good in this one. She's definitely improved. Dubbing is off because she's being portrayed as an immature teen here, but I don't think it's that big of a deal. I feel like if you're here to look for her faults, then yes you might pick out certain small scenes here and there, but I think her acting as a whole was pretty good.
MTY is also good here. He has a blank look in his eyes pretty much the whole time, but I liked his portrayal of the character and how light-hearted he made the drama. I think both actors did fine and I'm a little confused why some in the comments keep ripping them apart. The childish voices that dub aren't so bad that it interferes with the watch factor. The acting was fine, some people are just here to spread hate.

Plot:
I think the plot's pretty good so far. No major complaints yet. I cringed the whole beginning since the CGI was so bad, but otherwise I don't have that many problems. Zhang Yin Yin is your stereotypical cute and sheltered fl. She outwardly sees the ml as her "rival" but secretly helps him and tries to make him a better cultivator. The romance is fast and furious, no serious angst yet.

Overall would give 8 stars. Acting is pretty good, really like the leads, plots decent (nothing too special yet, but good enough for a light-hearted watch). took off some stars for CGI and dubbing.
