I have to say the mother is the most fascinating character to me in this series. She’s a character that frustrates me and yet evokes my sympathy.

Yes, the way she treats Qingyu is suffocating (no boys, no sex-ed, no nothing, just study hard and get to university) and it doesn’t help that she’s quick to blame her daughter without fully understanding the situation… She has many, many flaws as a mother.

But still, I feel for her. Her actions stem from the ever-present guilt she feels from losing Beiyu. That causes her to project her insecurities onto her second daughter, fearing (to the extent of paranoia) that she’ll end up in a similar state. She wasn’t there for Beiyu — now she wants to be constantly there for Qingyu (unfortunately not done the right way). I do think that her actions also stem from the fact she cares for Qingyu — though ironically, it’s pushing her daughter further from her.

Which brings me to another observation — the way she expresses love. It’s very, very traditional. The type of mum who shows care by filling your bowl with food and asking you to eat (very subtle expressions of love). But when sh*t goes down (especially in Ep 14), she still rises to the occasion to shield Qingyu from the mudslinging.

So yes, very fascinating.

The characters who annoy me the most are (not the parents because they are also victims of their circumstances so slightly more understandable) those brats who hang out with the ML. Their backhanded comments, entitled attitudes and other bullying tactics... They have literally no reason for their actions. They’re just huge pricks who pass bullying off as a joke. Urgh.

I get where you're coming from, but I personally see it differently. It’s interesting how people are quick to…
Thanks for sharing and I get where you’re coming from too. You’ve given me another angle to look at this

Unpopular opinion: Hua Ru Yue is a little too selfish. At first I pitied her because, while she was wrong to interfere with mortal affairs, she had a soft and empathetic heart that led her to help others in need. And what Bai Jiu Si (though I understand his POV of obeying the “laws of karma” as a celestial) did to her would definitely cause her to feel betrayed and hurt. So yes, I understand why she felt the need to get revenge.

But at this point, Bai Jiu Si has finally learnt empathy and how to be more human — even breaking his beloved “laws of karma” to understand her pain. (Not to mention the multiple stabs he already previously endured — it’s a miracle he’s even opening his heart to her again).

What I’m trying to say is: I don’t like how selfish she is by time and time again inflicting hurt on him because of that single foolish instance on Bai Jiu Si’s part. Almost as if her pain alone is valid…

Okay sorry for the rant

EDIT: This is in no way a hate post ya
I’m still enjoying the show and anticipating how this feud will eventually be settled

Their interactions are so cute! I think Sangyan is quite a refreshing male lead, especially with his way with words 👌🏻

Quietly accompanying and showing concern is what one sometimes need in time of difficulties. A simple hug can…
Dr He is healing her both physically and emotionally ☺️

Watched almost every drama that ZLH acted in as ML and they truly don’t disappoint 😌 This is my first time being exposed to XRH’s acting and so far so good — got that spicy bit of chemistry
