Remember the old man who was trying to repair the car? That was the secretary that became the chairman back then. When that secretary was young he also met the goblin who saw something good in the secretary and made him mysteriously meet the old chairman who then hired him as his secretary... I don't remember it clearly anymore though but it was somehow like that. That secretary became the chairman, right? But now he's old and maybe needs a successor? Don't know. But the goblin also saw something good in that guy on the bench and led him in the right direction, so that he could meat the chairman. He got the hint immediately that the goblin sent that guy to him. Although it's not shown, he will probably give that man a job at the company. Either to just make his efforts in life more fruitful or/and to make him the new successor some day... Haha~, this might sound a bit confusing. I tend to explain too detailed :'''D

I totally get what you mean. I wished for that, too, since I've felt that tension, too. I'm sad there wasn't any romance at all. I had really wished for it to happen. Or at least some kind of hug or holding hands to hint any progress.
