How many 2022 released dramas did you watch? - I don't think I can count and I haven't updated MDL yet but definitely more than 30.
What country did you watch the most in 2022? - China then Korea
What genre(s) do you usually watch? - Modern, Costume and Thriller (or Medical)
What is your top drama listed in this article? - Reset!!! - A Dream of Splendor - LLTG/LBFAD - Red Sleeve - 2521
What is your top drama NOT listed in this article? (Can be more than one. If you don't agree with dramas rated by the majority of MDLers, this is the chance for you to convince us why you think your choice of dramas deserved to be on the top.) - Rocket Mom - Wild Bloom - Story of XingFu
How was your drama journey in 2022? What is your wish or plan in dramaland in 2023? - Pretty good. Rediscovered why I love Zhao LuSi and I can't wait for her future projects. Bai JingTing is such a great actor, along with Zhao JinMai. I also can't help but gush over K-dramas improvement in the graphics and cinematography department. So many pretty scenes and beautifully captured moments. The directors have those down pat. - I want/need to watch more Korean dramas because honestly they're well produced and have interesting plots/stories but I usually get disinterested so fast. I find myself pressing FF or skipping an entire episode! Wth. Which frankly confuses me since I can sit through 9999 episodes of Chinese dramas. I probably need to move away from Rom-com (that K-drama is known for) and go for the more 'serious' genres.
It does get better. I love YAMG and this one isn't bad either. I fastforwarded a lot of the episodes when it doesn't…
Hmm maybe age gap is the wrong word. The ML is in college and the FL is already in the working force. Men usually age mentally "slower" than women (or atleast that's what I read). You can see in some episodes how naive the ML is so for me it's an interesting take how the romance would play out from here on.
This drama was based on a novel. The author, MaoNi, actually has a lot of well known works, both written and made into drama. The information here should reflect that. ZeTianJi or Fighter of the Destiny is one of them and Nightfall or Ever Night is another.
Priest has other works, too. Some are really, really well written. This is Guardian, I haven't read this one but it has very high ratings in JJ http://www.jjwxc.net/onebook.php?novelid=1673146 You need to be a member and then buy coins to read all the chapters though.
Is anyone able to provide input or explanation, why in the drama, whether the Xu family or the Luo family, is…
I haven't watched the series yet so this is just a guess if it stays true to the novel--I've read the novel many, many years ago. Usually in big families (especially prominent ones) the only children who are "seen" and "can be seen" are those in favor (their mothers are the current favorite and/or they have done something good for the family). Some of the children either died because hygiene in medical care was almost nonexistent or that they are "just" sons/daughters of a house maid, prostitute, or gifted daughter of a poor official brought in, etc etc.
Hierarchy was a big thing back then. In some families, if the DiMu (main wife) is an especially jealous and cruel woman, children would be sent out to some farm for "recuperation" and then quietly die or just outright killed in the battle for favors between the concubines and wives. Families in the ancient China are the smaller reflection of the Royalties in those times. Literally what happens in the palace is what also happens in these houses, especially noble ones.
Hi. Spoilers please assist :) Can you please tell me when does the cousin with long hair find out she is the girl…
Something like that happened but she didn't lose her voice permanently or anything. She was just waking up, if I'm remembering properly, and was anxious/looking for ZSC and still recovering from the fall.
Yeah, I had been expecting they would definitely tweak the story. The novel was too "bland" for many readers even back then. It might not translate well through film so creating some issues should help keep a wider audience interested? I read this novel back when I was 28/29 so I didn't mind the near drama-less plot lol. The characters were enough for me.
(I haven't watched a single episode! I'm the type to get antsy when it's still airing so I'd rather wait. I'm checking out all the casts other dramas in the meantime)

Oh no, I can't remember the exact details like about the cousin (it's been 6 years lol) but I do recall there were was never really a big break up. The only "problem" they encountered was the ML's family, but this is more of a family issue than being against the FL.
This is going to be a slow burn type of drama (if they go by way of the book) and it's not gonna be for everyone. You're going to be getting a very, very strong but silent and deep type of romance.
They got together pretty early on. Maybe about 30% into the story? The only "separation" was when the FL had work and the ML had to handle some businesses.
Just finished watching You Are My Glory and maybe that's the reason why I can't get into this, dropped it at ep5,…
It does get better. I love YAMG and this one isn't bad either. I fastforwarded a lot of the episodes when it doesn't concern the main leads (and some of the gaming scenes, I'm a gamer and watching them pains me), I couldn't get the other people's stories (2nd ML and the 2nd couple) but oooooh I want more of the ML and FL. Watch until episodes 11-12, that's where I really got into it. I wish it had more episodes of their life after marriage, like the ML's growth and the trials their relationship will face because of the age gap.
