i agree. I can't even recognize Zhuge Qing at all. he also suddenly can use phantasmagoria as well as Wang Ye. they also depowered Want Ye to the point he is hardly recognizable here.

For such a low budget drama its actually very good, more horror than cheesy adventure. Recommened.

Starts very well, with amazing side cast. After episode 16 the writer probably abandoned the story, it slides down to a very generic, tropey, misoginistic story where the man dictates everything, is the smartest, is the most powerful and nobody ever can even come close. Ning becomes a caricature. by the end I stopped caring about the main couple. Their lovey-dovey scenes took up to 10 minutes of every episode and brought no context to the story. Watching them or skipping them made no difference to the series.
The final is just all of the main cast dying - takes abut four episodes and most of them die in very stupid ways designed to be 'dramatic' but the thing is those deaths are just stupid. They arent any good for the plot, don't advance it and are clearly done just for drama. After each death there's a sequence of 'remembering' all the scenes with those characters that happened up until now. Pretty much unwatchable. They also destroy whatever character progress people made up until then just for 'drama'. Full in inconsistencies, the showrunners forget what they showed just 10 min before. One time they say trip will take months, next scene the magical Ning takes that trip in 4 days. Generally if you are doing something else and just glance at the drama from time to time, it may work. Otherwise extremely bad.
