Let me start with... You will never be able to see a male lead and a couple with same eyes. What the writers and the actors did here is actually unbelievable. The story itself is pretty simple, which I think is the main reason we get attached to the drama so fast - it’s so relatable. While you’re watching you have the feeling that there’s a piece of you in all the characters. Besides, you have a good idea of the pressure athletes go through and how hard it can be for those who dedicate their whole lives for sport. Each one of the main characters have their issues and you will see the closure of all of this, because even though they focus a lot on the relationship between Bok Joo and Joon Hyung, the other characters and issues are not ignored at all. The main leads are so lovable and (again) relatable. We have this strong, yet vulnerable female lead and the carefree, fun, confident, yet considerate and traumatized male lead. I’m sure you’ve heard of this before and it’s not exactly exciting, but you have no idea. The way writers/actors build their relationship is nothing but glorious. It’s a slow-burning love that first consolidates as a beautiful friendship and then turns into love and it’s honestly one of the most pretty things I’ve ever watched. Why? Well, first of all, since ep 2 you can see in Joon Hyung’s eyes his admiration for Bok Joo, even though this is covered by his jokes and annoying presence (not in a bad way). I’m talking about a male lead who never looked down at the girl. This guy always appreciated what the others (and even herself) used to “hate” about her and his support made her go through her confidence issues. The moment he realizes he’s in love with her, he doesn’t deny it,but embrace the idea, proud of being in love with such a great girl. It's Bok Joo who takes more time to accept her feelings, but when she does it’s all butterflies. They don't have to fake or pretend to be something they don't are around each other, because they're comfortable. They know and appreciated each other. I’ll say it again: their relationship is gold and once you watch it, you will have a hard time making “awww” sounds and giggling over other couples and you won’t ever think the male leads deserve the girl, because they’re not Joon Hyung. The chemistry between Nam Joo Hyuk and Lee Sung Kyung is insane and I’m sure it helped to make everything so genuine. I’m waiting for the last ep with a warm feeling and having a hard time to let it go. If you want to watch a show to fall in love with and feel super happy, this one is for you.
