I really love the Season 1 Zhuge Qing and Wang Ye, and yes, I am also dissapointed when they changed the actors. That's why I was glad when Dashing Youth was released. Atleast I can still see them together again.

How I wished they could have done that, but I'm pretty sure they must have done their best to gathered the main casts for the season 2 (PYC, WYL, HMH). Besides, the decision isn't entirely up to the director, we also have the production company. We can also consider that other actors and directors also have upcoming projects/dramas to film. Hou Minghao is already ready to enter the production of Xiao Yao after filming his scenes in IAN.I just don't know about PYC and WYL, but I'm pretty they also have schedules after. So, if they waited for Julio, the schedule of the filming would be messed up again and there might a chance for it to be delayed. Which they can't do, as the momentum from the success of season 1 may fade before they could film.

What I mean is that in this part of the story, their characters are not needed, unlike the first season which is about the tournament (before, in between, after), ZCL and FBB's pasts, and about the calamity. Neo Hou didn't joined the team after filming Dashing Youth, it was after Fangs and Fortune, which is between January and February last year (2024). And that time, Julio is already filming another drama (idk what is it) so I don't think he would be able to joined the crew.
