i have not read the novel and do not plan to read it because of my busy schedule. can anyone who has read the novel spoil to me what kind of role/purpose xu lingyi’s concubines serve in the story? like, who’s the antagonist? are their roles significant in the story? from the cast list of the drama, his first wife and two concubines are listed as “guest (appearance)”, so im curious as to how big their roles will be.

i have also heard that xu lingyi’s children contribute a big part to the story (at least in the novel). what’s the story behind those arcs?

the chinese name of this drama is hilarious.
who in the world thought of the english name "my heroic husband"? it takes the sense of comedy away from the drama, lol

The ML doesn't really have ML's aura, is he a powerful person in the Chinese entertainment industry? I don't understand…
i find this comment so problematic that i feel kind of offended on behalf of guo qilin. this type of comment is why so many celebrities start having issues about the way they look and etc.

personally, i find guo qilin to be a great actor/comedian. and frankly speaking, his acting chops are way better than those idol-like male actors. like what sharoncft said, looks aren't everything.

guo qilin's father is actually a very famous crosstalk performer, but qilin himself uses his own skills to prove to the audience of what he is capable of as an entertainer. he is quite a clever and smart guy in rl too. in all, he might not have the looks that many people might find pleasing or 'handsome', he definitely has the talents that many young actors don't really bother to polish (because they know fans only care about their looks....) :/

much like what they've done with zhao li xin when he was blacklisted, someone from the production team should re-invest in this drama and do AI editing (replace ZS's face) so that innocent actors such as yang yang can still have this sweet drama for fans to enjoy. This is such a guilty-pleasure watch, it's really a pity that it's blocked for the c-fans.

hopefully it will not be taken down from netflix and viki in the future...
On You Are My Glory Feb 20, 2021
Title You Are My Glory Spoiler
im quite excited for this drama because we rarely get a drama where the ‘perfect’ ML is insecure about himself. here, he has financial insecurities and struggles between accepting a stable income job or to follow his dream (that is to continue his aerospace engineering job). FL inspires him a lot and will ultimately help him discover himself —what he really wants and using patience to achieve his goal.

im looking forward to the special appearances of our ML and FL’s ex-lovers. although their role is minor, they do hold a significant meaning in our main couple’s relationship because of how different they are in terms of lifestyle and ambitiousness. ML’s ex broke up with him because he is financially insecure, even though he has the ability to earn more by changing his career. FL’s ex comes from a rich family; he wanted her to quit showbiz and become a housewife.

as usual, gu man’s stories can be very meaningful even though the way she writes her characters can be seen as unrealistic (such as ML and FL being top visuals and ML is outstanding in almost everything).

I have stayed in the c-industry enough to know that dramas usually took 1-2 years to air after the filming date.…
other than meeting the broadcasting and streaming site’s guidelines, the airing date of a drama might also depend on the popularity of the actors in the drama. not sure if you’ve noticed, but popular actresses such as zhao liying and tiffany tang —their dramas don’t wait that long on the waiting list to be aired. in fact, because of their popularity and good PR team, they also manage to secure good airing slots, which is usually during the summer break where there is more traffic/viewers.

reba is very popular these days so i wouldn’t be surprised if tv stations and sites are pushing for this drama to air as early as possible. plus, yang yang’s popularity is also going to garner a lot of views, meaning more $$$$$$$ for those streaming sites and investors.

Title All Out of Love Spoiler
Main girl marries wallace's character, has a kid and is very happy. Main girl's "brother" becomes her real brother.…
it's been so long since you commented, but i just finished the drama, so i'll make a reply to your question :')

jiang sheng jumped into marrying him because, yes, she thought that his time was limited due to some lung problems. and knowing that he really loves her, she wanted to fulfil his wish so that he can live his happy days. but the severity of his illness was all false information created by uncle qian because he didn't want for jiang sheng and tian you to have any regrets (because uncle qian went through a similar love story when he was younger).

after marrying tian you, uncle qian tells jiang sheng the truth (ep 62). later on, tian you also find out the truth from a hospital check-up (ep 67).

Title Chef Hua Spoiler
i enjoyed this a lot.
the light-hearted story flows and seems realistic. well done to the screenwriter —they've learnt from chef fang to not include the unnecessary palace intrigues.

wish the ending could've been more fulfilling like in chef fang. but overall, a very enjoyable drama to pass time. if you have a loss of appetite for any reason, this drama might help revive it ;)

I see on the reviews that most people gave low rating for the drama's music but I have to say that even this was…
OHMYGOD. i agree 200%.

i wonder if some (international) viewers actually know what the music is really about? melody-wise, yes, it can be a little boring. but when one takes the time to find out the idea behind the song —it's quite magnificent and beautiful.

for those who don't know, the theme song is based on a song dynasty poem by a female poet named li qing zhao. the title of this drama (in chinese) was actually taken from 2 stanzas of the poem: "知否?知否?/ 应是绿肥红瘦" (zhī fǒu? zhī fǒu? yīng shì lǜféi hóng shòu) and these lines can be heard from the song sung by hu xia and yisa yu for the drama.

it’s the third and last installment from the condor trilogy, however the story takes place many, many, many…
i have not watched this newest version to give an opinion. but i've heard many good things about it. alec's version is a good version in my opinion (a lot better than deng chao's version). the only downside is that alec's version is pretty old so i'm not sure what kind of resolution you will be able to find online (the first time i watched it was from rented VHS lol).

i can't really give my best opinion about which adaptation of HSDS is the best because it's my least favourite story of the condor trilogy (the characters are complex and the romance plot is not my cup of tea).

my personal ranking of the trilogy would be in its chronological order: 1. guo jing x huang rong, 2. yang guo x xiao long nu and then 3. wu ji x zhao min x zhi ruo

for most people, though, the all-time favourite is yang guo's and xiao long nu's storyline. it has a very romeo and juliet vibe to it, but better ending.

it’s the third and last installment from the condor trilogy, however the story takes place many, many, many…
assuming you prefer to watch the recent adaptations, the 1st part is huang rong's and guo jing's story. we're lucky cause this newest adaptation is the 2nd best one because it's faithful to the novel (the 1st best adapt. is from 1983). https://kisskh.at/19556-the-legend-of-the-condor-heroes

then it would be yang guo's and xiao long nu's story, which i recommend the 2006 version because the 2014 version was a flop (mis-cast and the director was just...bad). if you like yang mi, she's also in it but appears later in the story because she plays the daughter of huang rong and guo jing. https://kisskh.at/402-return-of-the-condor-heroes-2006

and then it would be this, heavenly sword and sabre.

hope this helps :)

Title Go Ahead
Halfway through the show, there were so many negative comments about Ling Xiao’s character, but I found that…
THIS line "I feel like many people who watch dramas fail to look deep into characters and just easily get triggered when something they don’t like happens" —i 200% agree and i'm going to steal this line for future use :')

and your analysis of the drama really convinced me to watch it (i was initially put off because i'm not a fan of song weilong's acting even though he's undoubtedly an eye candy haha.
