my girl tingyan just wanted to put her feet up and relax afer the car crash but instead she has to climb the mount everest everyday, clean the place, escape the moodswings of her homicidal boss and tame a snake without getting paid 😭justice for my girl 😂love the drama so far! can't wait for ep 5! hopefully my girl is gonna get a promotion and some proper benefits 😂
Just finished watching the first two episodes and I've got mixed feelings about this show. The story is great! It's funny and engaging but also serious at the same time. Got me hooked instantly, which is always a great sign. What I personally didn't like is the CGI. At least to me it looks very cheap. Idk if the CGI alone is to blame or if the colour grading was also working against them. Whatever it is, I am not really vibing with it. As for the acting. . .well. Park Shin Hye is not doing it for me. She's not bad but she's not good either. It's kinda flavourless which is such a shame, since she's supposed to be carrying the story. I genuinely think that Oh Na Ra would have done a better job. For the short clip we saw her, she sold this role of an eccentric immortal being far better. But it's only been 2 episodes, so I'll give it a couple more to see if it gets better. Rating so far: 7/10
this might be a weird thing to complain about but after watching the first six episodes what really really bothers me is luo yunxi's make up. but weirdly enough it's not bad all the time. there are some scenes where i like it but in most of the close ups it's so bad it pulled me out of the immersion? like it's a dramatic moment but all i can focus on is how bad the lipstick looks on him. apart from that and the occasional hilarious cgi (which is supposed to look all fancy and impressive but just made me laugh) i genuinely like the drama so far! very entertaining and i can't wait for the next episodes to drop soon!
ep 21 and 22 had me laughing so hard. 😂 absolutely love how dong fang qing is Suffering and the way dylan portrayed it. one hundred percent approve of this 'bromance' and am wondering if changheng will remember this mortal life once he's back to being the god of war. how will he be able to face dong fang qing after all this? 😂 but also dong fang qing better not forget about his most loyal and most precious baby that is shangque!! 😤 where is shangque's shoulder pat, awkward smile and brotherhood swear?! 😂😤
i'm struggling to express and formulate my thoughts/feelings on this matter but i shall try it. not sure if i am the only one who feels this way but i am in this weird place where i genuinely love this drama ( the chemistry is solid & the acting is great ) but at the same time feel like it's missing that special spark to make me want to watch 60 episodes of this? there is just something about the story or perhaps the execution of it that doesn't quite land for me? whilst i am enjoying the back and forth between YD and TZ, the development between them, and YM being a stark contrast to TZ/YY and giving the viewers a different perspective of what could be, i at the same time still feel like it all kinda falls flat? am i the only one struggling with this? i feel like we haven't made much progress with the main story which wouldn't be a huge issue if the side story was gripping enough to make up for it? maybe it's just a me issue tho so idk. . .might have to put the drama on hold for now and wait for there to be more/or all episodes out because this drama might actually be a far better viewing experience if it's binged?
The art director is from Love & Redemption…. This is his signature tackiness. His CGI is always intense colors…
it has been two years since i've watched it so i might be remembering it wrong and you might be right! oh yes, ancient love poetry looked amazing! hm. . .might give blue whisper a go after hearing you praise the cinematography/colouring! ( : thank you for the recommendation! <3
watched it twice. once for the entire experience and the second time solely to appreciate the aesthetics.

not sure why but i feel like love & redemption looked slightly better if i remember correctly. . .
haven't watched "ashes of love" nor "blue whisper" but the movie "the yin yang master" looked amazing and i wish whoever was responsible for the editing of it could have worked on this drama.
ppl complain about the lack of color now they complain about too much color smh
this has nothing to do with the amount of colour. bollywood movies ( not all of course but i remember watching 2-3 movies way back ) is the best example for a LOT of colour done right. it's about the grading/shading process that is done by the editing team. instead of having the divine realm look magical and ethereal it looks cheap/tacky which ruins the illusion.
My coworker wants to watch this (She's a huge GGS fan) but has money issues right now.Does anyone know an ad-free…
you could always install adblocker and watch it on those sites. youku is also uploading the subbed episodes on their youtube channel. here is the link to the first episode on youtube: https://youtu.be/N1Smr6Ombrs
after watching ep 1 & 2 i think that the reason the show as a whole looks borderline cheap or even tacky is due to the colouring of it. whoever was in charge of editing, should have went with a different colour palette/filter. i'm also not exactly fond of the music selection/timing either which is a little disappoint since the music can oftentimes help to sell a scene/story. but the acting is solid ( as you'd expect from yang zi & cheng yi ) and the pacing is good so far! excited for the story to unfold.
question: have they only filmed the first 24 episodes? or did they film the entire thing ( love like the galaxy part 1 AND 2 ) but simply can't agree on when to air the second part?
is the reason why seulbi's mom is so powerful not just her age but also because she missed the chance to become a mortal and therefore became a 'demoness' like the former witch mentioned? and is the key to breaking the chance that the person has to love her for it to work? willing to risk it all and give their life for the witch's?
Really you like minjoon? For me whenever he’s on screen he sucks all the entertainment out of drama! He’s…
yes, i really like him as a character! i think there is a lot of potential for depth and character development with a tragic note when it comes to minjoon and seulbi! the acting isn't phenomenal but i don't think it's terrible either? just average? i have a feeling that with the lines and script the actor was given so far, he didn't get the chance to fully show his skills? or at the very least i am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
genuinely questioning if people who are hating on lou yao are watching the same drama i am watching. how on earth can you hate on him?! sure, i will admit, the chemistry between them isn't there but his role serves a much more important purpose than being a love interest. he's literally the first guy who has defended and praised shao shang besides her brothers/father. he's the first one to praise her for being clever instead of saying she's manipulative. he's giving her his UNDIVIDED time and attention and doesn't expect her to be anyone but herself. running around and trying to spoil her, to impress her family and appease her mother that disapproves of him. and i think that's exactly what shao shang needs at this point to help her develop and mature. to find herself and understand what she wants from life. the way her mother and a lot of people around her talk has given shao shang the impression that she's not desirable and while she is no doubt a fighter, stuff like that will leave wounds behind. so of course she'll want to stick to lou yao despite not really loving him ( but then again she doesn't know what love is yet ). are they meant to be? no. but i think they can both help each other in some ways to become a better and happier version of themselves at the end. haven't read the novel but i hope they at the very least remain close friends.
watched all episodes up to the one aired today ( episode 9 ) and i still enjoy it very much. not sure why so many people want to drop it or have dropped it but i am having fun. won't give my rating or review just yet but so far it's a solid 7.5! i will confess that i want seulbi to end up with minjoon. . .genuinely enjoy them much more ( but the main couple is definitely solid and cute! )! i like the dark twist that them getting together would bring with their family history and all.
