jokes aside, the whole plot and reason for the movie was to show what it's like living in an apartment building (ik, kinda obvious).he woke up in the hospital because of all the injuries he had, his mom was with him, of course, because she's his mom.the prosecution picked up the case, but they didn't have evidence because it all burned up (except for all the crazy stuff that dude had in his apartment, but those couldn't prove anything, only the fact that he was crazy), and ha neul's character decided to stay silent, so they covered it up.his mom took him back to his hometown because boy, you just experienced something traumatic, I think a change of scenery will be good for you.but no, he went back. why? because it's his apartment after all, and it's the only thing he had left after all he went through. why did he keep hearing noises in the apartment, even after that dude died? because that's life with neighbors. they make noise, you make noise, I make noise. that's just the way it is when you're living with people, in a community. just like that lady from the penthouse said. the reason for the noises isn't the fact that the building is poorly made. it's the people.but anyways, this is my take on the ending. I really enjoyed the movie.

because, as that lady said, the noises are not because of the poor construction of the apartment building, it's because of the people living there. that's part of living with other people, you're gonna have to deal with noises sometimes (hopefully not to the extreme shown in the movie). and he went back cause it's his apartment after all. it's all he has left from all he went through
