It seems that with every new unlocking of contemplation, a life has to be exchanged and the contemplation will depend on what that sacrificed life embodied. I was captivated by the tragic love story between Rong Xian and Ling Long. I thought I had cried enough for them but I never expected to get more hurt about Ah Wu and Ah Qi's love story. I feel for Chang Mei who only wanted to protect her nephew whom she treated as her own son, despite how selfish she has become, it's really hard to be left all alone with all your love ones gone. Losing a sister, a lover and a son. She's left so alone when she used to be so carefree.

I honestly didn't feel much chemistry between Mu Jiu and Tian Huo as I think there wasn't much built up, however, I didn't expect to cry so much during the scene when Mu Jiu bid his farewell. That moment was so well executed that I think the supporting actors both shined on their own. Watching Mu Jiu trying to hug her one last time, was too painful. It's all well executed.

Also, I really love it whenever Bai Shuo gains a new contemplation, how her eyes changes into radiant color and she gets lifted up in the air. It's powerful. Bai Lu is so beautiful too.

It was part of her plan so that she could strike a deal with the master of the bright moon palace Fan Yue. She knew he wouldn't want to let her die since the contemplation stone had already resided inside her body. He needs it too. She did that in order to save her father who got bitten by the poisoned people. Bai Shuo is a girl who was pampered with so much love and grew up in a carefree environment while being confined in a small city. She is at her last resort and wanted to save her father badly, so of course she wouldn't just sit still and standby doing nothing to save her only blood-related family left. As for Chong Zhao, he was at fault for lying to her throughout all those years. Imagine trusting someone for so long and looking like a fool in front of them whilst you treated them as family. If you were in her shoes of course you'd be fumed too because the person you treated as a family and protected turned out to be someone you have never truly known. She wasn't all mad about that, did you see how Chong Zhao forcefully locked her against her will? She was already overly worried about her father's condition and Chong Zhao did the opposite of things instead of helping her. She treated him like a family, both her and her father. Instead of lending a hand to prioritize a more urgent matter in helping her father, all he ever cared about was acting righteously. It's the same thing with the case of the poisoning, he was the first to find out but instead of reporting he didn't moved an inch. He did it to protect Bai Shuo that is true but, protecting someone at the expense of sacrificing the majority will only lead to Bai Shuo's guilt. While for Fan Yue, he does have his own purpose and plan but despite everything during those situations he was the only one who ever truly helped for her to cure her father and at the same time brought her back to the city. Both characters have their own faults so you can't solely point the blame only at Bai Shuo. She did spent her life learning about becoming immortal but it was stated how she was always fooled and even when Fan Yue saw her room and saw all those books and stuff she owned to chase immortality, he sees it as junk. Bai Shuo still has room for growth and if you watch next episode you'll understand more. As for her father's death, Fu Ling was the one behind it, they were obviously scheming to get the stone from her. Also, it was because she gained a new contemplation which is why the people were saved, not because of her but because of the contemplation to make it clear.

so this spin off is technically just for friendship stuff

I watched a few episodes since I am still busy and I didn't expect to cry too soon. It's been a while since I have last seen Bai Lu on screen, her crying scenes were always the best and I can see how much she's constantly making progress to each roles she takes. This drama started off good and really interesting. I can't wait to catch up with the latest episode when I am done being busy. I like the visual presentation of the scenes and characters. It's exciting for me to see her dynamic with Fan Yue, I find his entrance cool. The adorable doll animation used for the introduction of the characters caught my eyes, it seems this is the first cdrama to ever input such idea. I am also loving the intro song and narration. The dialogues sounded meaningful and the song by Sa Ding Ding reminded me of my first ever xianxia drama Ashes of Love. I am already in love with this drama and will surely watch more soon.
