Person Bai Lu
I’d love to see her in a costume drama with Deng Kai.
I never thought of it but they'd make an interesting pair.

She is very good at playing strong female characters, I loved her as Jiang Xuening in SOKP as well. You should try watching her other dramas. Would also recommend watching her older ones like Arsenal Military Academy or One and Only.

I only just started this today and I am already on episode 10. It is indeed quite silly but there's something addicting about the plot that makes me want to watch the next episode. It's also nice to see Miles Wei playing this type of character again. He owns this role.

can someone recommend drama like this I can't find any 😭😭😭😭😭😭
here are a few which I can recommend though the cinematography differs greatly from this one since Moonlight Mystique tried to provide a different type of xianxia. If you like the FL, she excels in this genre, I recommend you to watch "Feud" and "Till the end of the Moon". Other xianxias I can recommend with different leads are "Love in the Clouds", "Love and Redemption" and "Love between fairy and devil".

I'm so sad to know that Ma and Susu broke up. They were one of the most authentic couple in this show. I wish them well in life.

In the world where you kill or be killed, you need to be a scheming and manipulative person to survive. Mu Qing…
I share your perspective. Mu Qingyan’s methods may appear harsh or even toxic at times, but they are undeniably effective. He seems to be the only one truly attempting to bring real change to jianghu, quietly exposing the rot that has been buried for years. The others remain blind to it, largely because they are bound by rigid ideas of righteousness and morality that prevent them from questioning the established narrative.

As for Cai Zhao, I think her difficulty right now lies in her inability to see beyond the version of events she has been told, particularly by Master Qi. The matter of the β€œskin-painted demon” appears to weigh heavily on her judgment, and until the truth behind that is fully uncovered, something she likely needs to discover on her own, it will be difficult for her to fully trust Mu Qingyan.

What makes the story compelling is how layered the truth seems to be. Much of what is presented as fact is entangled with deception, and ironically it is Mu Qingyan’s controversial methods that are gradually revealing the deeper tragedy of the past.
On Generation to Generation Mar 8, 2026
Nothing in this story is ever quite what it seems. Beneath Mu Qingyan’s layers of careful scheming, what fascinates me most is how Cai Zhao can often see straight through him. Her sharpness feels like a true parallel to his, they match each other in wit more than either of them might admit.

I don’t personally see Mu Qingyan as entirely toxic or villainous. Yes, he is manipulative by nature, his mind is constantly calculating, but his schemes rarely feel rooted in selfish gain. If anything, they seem directed toward a larger goal, especially when he speaks about wanting to walk jianghu freely and live in peace with Cai Zhao. Compared to the many so-called righteous figures who hide behind their moral facade, he feels far more sincere.

I also don’t doubt his feelings for Cai Zhao. Perhaps in the beginning she was merely another piece in his carefully arranged chessboard, but somewhere along the way his own plans unraveled because he truly fell for her. That is where the line between his scheming and his sincerity becomes blurred. It’s also why I understand how Cai Zhao could misread his intentions. I do hope, however, that she eventually sees what Mu Qingyan truly means, just as clearly as she can read his strategies. And perhaps she will begin to question her master with the same clarity as well.

As for the mysterious man in black, I initially suspected Master Qi, and part of me still does, but another possibility has begun to linger in my mind: Li Wenxun. He has remained largely unnoticed so far, yet there is something subtly unsettling about him that makes me wonder if there is more beneath the surface.

Yes! It's a challenging field. Dramas are more well-known in China but if an actor/actress can get in a good film project then it can also be a big breakthrough. I hope so too! I really want her to be in a film that can air overseas.

Crossing my fingers that Lulu can venture into films, the ones that get to premiere in overseas cinemas. It's a fever dream to watch her acting performance in a large screen.

I really liked Zhou Yi Ran in his other roles and he is a good actor. But why is he so skinny now. He looks like…
I think it has to do with the hanfu (historical costume) he is wearing, they tend to be bigger fitted because of the cloth. Another is when it comes to wuxia dramas, they often ask their actors to go on a diet most likely connected to doing martial arts stunts and such.

i don't think it's about the director that's director also did the double ,it is the editors who edits the episodes
I thought the same. I am not really sure if this is a high budget drama but I think this could have been a factor too. The cinematic effects/ CGIs used were similar to older wuxias I had watched in the past. It's not a bad thing though but these things do play a role in production too.
