seems like it but we still don't have a solid reason why other than flashbacks of his dad leaving him w/his maternal family side. anyway, i can't wait for FL's backstory bc if i recall she was from a fallen noble family and got sold into the courtesan house at a young age.

c-netizens love these two esp when it comes to costume drama bc they are visually stunning in costumes and fight scenes which are the aesthetics and epitome of this genre. a lot of them joke tht if time travel exist, LYF and CX need to travel back in time and film Return of the Condor Hero together.

y'all have no idea how ecstatic i am about this freaking CP. i've waited 16 years for this collab and we finally got Yang Guo and Xiaolongnu in one frame <3 Plus they did not disappoint. the chemistry is over the roof and i find that of all the male leads paired w/ LYF, CX is the only one that melts tht "cold icy goddess" image. Anyway, the pacing, writing, cinematography, color palette, and everything about this drama is so damn good. My only worry is bc it's 40 episodes, it might drag and i do notice already in the parts w/o the main characters.

p.s. i think it's funny how after Pan'er opened the teahouse, Gu Qian Fan, the tea lover, has yet to take a sip of tea at the place since others keep interrupting him every time he's there or he leaves before the tea is offered to him.

CAM is by far Daylight Entertianment's weakest production. ALL of the drama in this wouldn't have drag on for so long if the main leads said "fxxk it! we're gonna be together whether you all like it or not" and cut ties w/those opposing. On the other hand, Ning Shu is a prick but he's what's keeping this drama afloat. He also has every right to take revenge as the Jian family was the cause of his disorder and the root of the Ning family's suffering yet no one from the Jian side has ever apologized or atoned for what they've done instead the only thing they want to do is leave the past in the past and move on while the Ning continue to suffer.

very brief review. 6/10. This drama has so much potential. First of all, it's very dialog-heavy so I don't recommend watching it if you don't understand the language bc there are a lot of double meanings to everything in the way tht the drama was directed. Secondly, it's got a great cast w/execellent veteran actors, a great color palette for the genre, and for the most part, the original voices were used (i haven't watched the official released version so not sure if part of the episodes were dubbed or not). Now, the biggest flaw would be scriptwriting. It seems to be doing a lot at once and not enough to tie things together. Other than that, I still think it's a good drama to binge on rather than a drama to wait on or else the pacing would seem torturous and tedious.

UPDATES 12/28/2021 - according to yxhs, the drama should be out in the first quarter of 2022 any time around mid-Jan - early Feb when many cdrama drops for CNY.

Ning Shu should be a pretty FU character and unbearable if it's anything like the original web novel. However, this is the one time I hope Anai doesn't replicate her book into the drama screenplay bc for a better lack of terms, the web novel is shit and frustrating. So far, Anai's other scripts w/Daylight did really well so i hope this one does too. Anyway if we're lucky, the drama might air in either September or sometime in the 4th quarter (Oct-Dec), if we're not, it'll be broadcast in 2022.
