I feel as though there’s always that one actress who’s really popular (or WAS at one point) and you choose to not like her because of it.
But then there’s times when you choose to actually like them because they just seem likable. Rainie’s characters are always relatable, quirky, and mouthing-off type in an understated way. Even when I saw her in Sisters Who Makes Waves S2, I didn’t recognize her at first, but I was glad to see her. She even supported a favorite actress of mine who was on the show.
Anywho, my sister was a big fan of Rainie before I was. But I think Rainie is an overall cool and genuine individual. And she does have a nice catalogue of songs. Her story before she made it big is relatable and inspiring too.
(And I wish there was more attention on Taiwanese dramas these days. I never can come across one, let alone one subbed. And it’s so disheartening cuz I‘ve been listening to CPOP with Taiwan based artists, and I’ve wanted to pick up on watching Taiwanese dramas again 😭)
Good memories! Devil Beside You is such a classic, most people who like Taiwanese dramas will have watched that.…
Currently watching DBY, and it’s so cute and sweet. People say it aged bad and had toxic characters but it’s a story one watches to feel young and dumb again. I like to stay a little naïve.
I’m actually nearly done with this drama. And I really liked the twist and turns. Yet, there is one thing that truly irked me, and that was when the police woman told the female lead that it wasn’t her right/job to know how the police would respond to her allegations against the husband. The female lead did go to someone but there was nothing they could do. She was turned down. But apparently the police would’ve been reliable when she’d tell them that her husband was abusive and she wanted to divorce him.
It just made me roll my eyes that the policewoman/detective would think that law enforcement would’ve been such a big help and quick to help when FL sought to get help. Sometimes I think it’s annoying/in-denial to have so much hope in a system that isn’t made for the lesser people.
Need to pick up again. I was at a very frustrating episode. But I’m going to watch it again. All subbed episodes are on a Kim Rae Won rampage/fan club on Facebook.
Please do let me know if time stamps are needed (if you haven’t dropped the show or given it a pass). 😅
SPOILERS BELOW for specifications.
Hmm…Jade kills the cat in Episode 3. At the end of the episode because it bit him.
Episode 13 is when Jade kills the long haired chihuahua, named Happy (after Jeen starts freaking out). And he’s frustrated ‘cause Jeen didn’t tell him what he wanted to hear. Seen again in episode 13 when he turns it into a stuffed animal (I know there’s a name for it but I forgot).
Episode 14 - Flashback to Jade’s traumatizing childhood. His abusive step dad wanted him to stop playing with the dog because it was loud or some other poor logic.
That’s all the animal killing done. All other animals (including the dog second female lead adopted) are alive. Thank goodness.
I think it's a good adaptation of the Korean version. The only character I really can't stand are the two guys…
I understand. But I really like how they did more in this adaptation. But I understand, in retrospect they appeared a little outta place (IF coming from someone who didn’t like them all that much). But I had a soft spot for Leng. And they really had a role at the end. What I didn’t like with the KDrama is that the main leads kinda pushed them aside at the end. But I understand. 😅 And maybe I’m advocating for them because their relationship (in both adaptations) reminded of me and my twin. I spent most of our savings, but she still stayed by my side. And…yeah.
I know it’s weird that I’m commenting again. But the lead characters’ chemistry was very sweet. The characters were both so quirky, that I think that was the appeal. Their outfits even coordinated well. Very sweet couple. ❤️
Okay so 1st I want to mention, I love this couple. Another coupling done right. I'm on episode 5 and i thought…
Thank you. I’m gonna trust your input. About to watch. The last few comments below have a lot of contradictions and disappointments. Your comment seems solid 🤔
I am in the midst of watching Parallel Love and I have a question for those who have watched her in other shows.…
I honestly thought it was to convey awkwardness. Like, when people have an awkward laugh.
For instance, sometimes I laugh or smile when someone starts to cry or gets really emotional. I have to put my hand to my mouth. Not because I think crying or sadness is funny, but I’m awkward. And I’m working on that. And maybe a little detached too.
So, the actress might be trying to convey that, but she may need a little bit improvement in doing that. But I haven’t watched anything else she’s in (besides Parallel Love). I plan on though. To see if that’s truly the case.

They really brought it home with the villain.
I’m glad you enjoyed this adaptation.
