does this drama get better? just started ep5 and am honestly somewhat disappointed as a forest of secret S1/S2 fan. it's like fine as a drama on its own but doesn't live up to the main series :/ it's not boring, but it also seems to rather be a straightforward crime/investigation drama and not that intricately plotted. it hasn't really deliberated on the politics and the question of how to navigate an inherently corrupt system beyond surface levels, will there be more of that in the later eps? just to know where to set my expectations
Are there any more details on how Lee Suyeon (screenwriter of S1 and S2 of Stranger/Forest of secrets) exactly was involved as a "creator" for this spin-off?
I'm on episode 6 of beyond evil and I wanted to know if it's worth continuing if I didn't enjoy it that much so far? I'm kind of bored of the whole whodunnit, since the show is deliberately making everyone seem suspicious, which in turn makes me suspect noone and not care about who the murderer was at all. It feels unnecessarily convoluted with pretty much every character witholding information or protecting and covering up for someone who they think might be the culprit. It turns out psychological thrillers aren't my cup of tea, or maybe this drama just isn't doing it for me? I quite enjoyed Stranger/Forest of Secrets but then again, they're quite different in tone and execution. Or maybe serial killers bore me.
I'm late but i finally got around to starting this and I am absolutely in love with the scriptwriting! The 1st episode was very much an introductory one but the 2nd episode delivered so much!! I don't know how many times I cracked up at the absurdity of the whole situation regarding the police-prosecution council meeting. Very wittly written. Am looking forward to what this season will have in store
Random impressions: Excellent pacing. The story unfolded very organically, and stayed engaging throughout the show. Despite my worries, the ending wasn't rushed at all. Very satisfying timeskip at the end. The story isn't unique for sure, but the execution was almost flawless imo. A plus also is that there were only minimal frustrations w/ what the villains would sometimes pull out of their asses. So glad that none of the leads were ever stabbed lmao. Acting was okay, but the characters felt a bit flat to me. Still, I loved Junho to death! Most disappointed with how Ha Yuri was handled. She isn't that a likeable character at all at the beginning and I'm not sure if she ever grew on me; it might have to do with her lack of screentime. I've worried throughout the story if the writer would just abandon her plot points but I'm glad that in the end everything was tied up neatly, more or less.
