I don't think the original was "dark" if I would use a word to describe it, it'd be "tragic" and if they choose…
that's true but there's always a first time for everything and if they do go in that direction then it'll be groundbreaking in its own way. oldboy was impactful because of that. i'm fine with both leads dying as long as it makes sense in the story and for the jdrama, that just seems to be the most rational ending, though tragic. tbh, i'm tired of plot twist where the leads aren't actually dead, it's an overused plot device.

Killing one of is even "acceptable" but killing both leads is too tragic for how kdramas usually are. This is the sort of thing you see in Korean films rather than dramas.

i'm not going to be surprised if they decide to change the ending given the controversial matter of it/ and as you said, kdramas rarely get sad endings. i feel like many viewers will be left unhappy if they die.

Writing is right after finishing the Japanese original, Hundred Million Stars from the Sky. Wow, there's so much I want to share but it's difficult to make comparisons at this point since we only have 2 episodes so far for the Korean remake. But I would say that the 2 episodes were actually quite faithful to the original version but of course with minor changes as they have to shape it in their own way. Now, for those who has seen the original, I think the question that's now floating in our heads is "Will the remake follow the original?" I know that the director said that they'll make it their own and while I personally am for following the original, I think it can go either way. After all, this is a remake. It'll be interesting to see how they'll pull it off.

That said, here's what I notice between the two that say it can go either way:
Following the original:
JP version: Ryo (Kimura Takuya) also dropped "My cute little sister" hints in the second episode.
KR version: Moo Young (In Guk) also mentions his "cute little sister"

Not following the original:
JP version: Ryo doesn't know that he has a sister and he also doesn't know that Kenzo (the brother) killed his father in the beginning
KR version: Moo Young seems to know about his sister. He said to Jin Kang (So Min) that they met before, a long long time ago. He also seems to know about the brother when he said if he's ever killed someone and the brother said no but he said, he has. The "You have" after saying no isn't in the JP version.

Sorry for the long post and I know it's too early to speculate with just two episodes but thought I'd just share this because I know for those who probably watched the original, are dying to know if it will be followed or not.

I'm sort of getting annoyed with people comparing to it JBL before they've even watched it. It may have some similar…
I've watched JBL and I see why people would compare though both dramas have their differences. JBL is a tragedy and sort-of a healing of the survivors of a tragic event (similar to this one). The two main characters are connected by this tragedy and yes, fall in love (not a spoiler) even though it might be wrong.

Nam Joo Hyuk would have killed this show. In a bad way
I love NJH but I do agree (I felt that way in Bride of the Water God). The role is too dramatic for NJH and he’s still much better suited for boys-next-door roles (like Weightlifting Fairy). Though he has to breakout of that eventually

I love Nam Joo Hyuk but I'm actually thankful that he and Suzy Bae rejected this drama (even though it might be a breakthrough role for NJH). It paved way for Jang Ki Yong and Jin Ki Joo to finally be in a spotlight and they're doing great. It actually turns out to be a blessing in disguise.

It's just 4 episodes in but I've never gotten that much goosebumps and tears and emotion and rawness in a show. This is going to be phenomenal.

What did jisoo do to deserve this????? why second lead again????
yeah of course, i totally understand. but at the same time, i just want him to be a main lead...though i don't think he "lacks" experience. there are others who only did a few dramas (no movie and he already has one) that do have leading roles. im pretty sure he can play other roles than a high school student given that in age isn't always a factor in your role (since most look younger than they are anyway). and your last comment, im also being realistic haha...he's not a newbie anymore.

On Ouroboros May 20, 2016
Title Ouroboros Spoiler
I know a lot of people were saddened by the ending. I was too. Very much. But I couldn't imagine a better ending. It's as Ikou said. They're ouroboros. The two dragons. It would be painful if one lives and the other dies. They lived 20 years of their lives with one purpose. And now that they've fulfilled it (kinda), then they have no more reason. And the flags were everywhere. Those goodbyes. When asked, "What happens after?" they never answer, etc. This is the path they've taken. It's sad that they had to die but in the end, they were happy. They were reunited with the one they love eating omelet rice. It's sad but at the same time, it's also a good ending. I love how this drama is sooooooooo different to Hana Kimi and it was such a pleasure to see Ogurin and Toma together again. Hana Kimi was so fun and full of laughs but this one (though some mild funny moments) was sad and tragic. Their bromance is still so perfect. I really just love how this drama focused on friendship and family rather than annoying romance or love-triangle-whatsoever. It's definitely a refreshing one. Suggestion: if you haven't watch Hana Kimi, watch that after watching this. Or rewatch it. You'll thank me later.

I actually saw this news the minute it came out and I think Park Shin Hye was the original leading lady until…
Nope, I just checked my twitter and saw my tweet to my friend. And she replied and agreed so yes, at first the news was Shin Hye BUT I believe it was probably a reporting mistake because if it was Suzy from the beginning and no news of Shin Hye then it must have changed the mistake. I know because I've been waiting for a drama for Shin Hye and Woo Bin together and I also know about Pinocchio. And I can confirm that it was a reporting mistake because when you requote a tweet in twitter, it's suppose to "preview" but now my tweet is just the link...so there was a change. But anyway, thanks for letting me know!
