Light hearted entertainment

because there were so many couples to cover, each couple only had a few episodes worth of content. this made the show fast-paced and entertaining. the transition from one couple to another was also smooth and logical.

every couple in the show depicted different types of couples in real life.

1. the older lady / widowed lady with a younger man - this couple challenges social stigma. why did female lead make things so difficult for the male lead? because she rather live a peaceful life than to go through emotional rollercoasters again after losing a loved one.

2. strong wife, weak husband - provides a diff pov on why some wifes are just so fierce... simply because they think their husbands are not strong enough to take care of them, so they must act to ensure life gets better in future

3. rich man, poor woman - eventhough both of them are equally matched intellectually, outsiders (parents included) will always think the poorer side is trying to leach the richer side off

4. girl likes guy first - perseverence will pay off. how many guys can resist a beautiful girl who opens up about liking them first?

5. i hate you at first, but fall in love later kind of relationship - isn't that life? opposites attract

6. the grow up together couple... rare now but used to be the common thing in the past

i liked how the couples reflect the different types of relationships in society and liked how some of them had solid plots in their relationship development despite only having a few episodes of air time.

all in all, an enjoyable watch. ost not strong... at least i dont remember any outstanding songs

Slice of Life

this is the show to watch if you enjoy slow paced, peaceful, slice-of-life type of shows.

i was very touched by the friendship between XHD and her bestie. it reminded me that we shouldn't take health for granted, and we should cherish every moment in life. watching her recount the times spent with her friend made me tear up.

the show showed the picturesque views of Yunnan and is an inspiration for city goers to put down everything and YOLO. not just because of the beautiful scenery, but because of the meaning of taking a break to treasure every minute of life. XZY's calling to go back to his hometown to make it better was also admirable.

i particularly enjoyed the mature and slow burn romance between the male and female lead, not rushing into things just because of physical attraction but because of aligned vision and values.

OST was also great, song was stuck in my head for the longest time...

Resilience breeds success

i thought it is quite unrealistic for a 20-ish year old badminton player to switch to play tennis and find success with the transition. technically it is difficult due to the different techniques and skills required to play the two sports. but... it is a show so manage some expectations.

i find the social story here rather realistic with increasing numbers of older women-younger men couple. i liked that the show addressed the stigma around such relationships. despite being successful, women sometimes are too harsh on themselves. just like in the show, the female lead doesn't think she should date a younger man. i'm glad she eventually came around and decided to follow her heart.

i also enjoyed the male lead's story with his father. family are not always blood related, family go though hardships and happiness together, i liked that the show depicted just that.

i enjoyed every single episode of the show and will rewatch if time permits.

most of all, the OST was great! the closing song stuck for months.

Older cast for older folks

Watched this for the male lead but was rather disappointed by the overall show. Love scenes were particularly cringe, especially when female lead has to portray the innocent and sweet scenes.

Show feels like a budget production. Props were clearly fake and plastic. Hairdos were dated, male lead’s hair when down was so weird. The fox clan’s hairdo even more ridiculous. It was hard to watch.

Thankfully OST was great, closing song by ZLY stuck for quite a while.

Despite all the above, the overall plot was enjoyable especially with the sub-plots to revive the various spirits… I also found some nuggets of wisdom from the show.

1. Power ignites fear. People feel threatened when absolute power resides with an individual. Unity from fear is never long lasting.

2. Betrayal hurts the most when it’s from the very people we are trying to protect.

3. The world is created with its own checks and balances. Don’t tilt the balance.

I also liked the older cast of this show, more realistic for mature audiences but.. as said earlier the love scenes didn’t quite fit. I didn’t think the chemistry was great between the couples of the show too.

Male lead acting as usual was great, especially the scene when he was talking to himself about the 5 sins. Impressive.

Show is still worth watching, especially if fan of LXY.

Emotional drama on healing and love

i really enjoyed the show despite the heavy topics it discussed. both male and female leads portrayed the characters well and there was so much chemistry between them.

the show discussed many emotional topics such as death, family ties, guilt, friendship and more. many plots were tear jerking especially when death is involved.

grandma brought a touch of humour to the show, i liked the way she looked after female lead, forming sisterly bond at the end of the show. step sister he niao niao was a joy to watch.

OST was appropriate with slow ballads...

OTT Kissing

i am a fan of WL and ZJM but this show really is over the top with the kissing. i get it that the characters are young with raging hormones but real romance isn't about kissing all the time... the initial parts of the get together and kissing were enjoyable but towards the end i was skimming through them.

i enjoyed the sports theme of the show, it allowed me to understand the billards and pool games more and appreciate the professionalism of the sport. provides also a glimpse of the life of an athlete - lots of training and traveling for competition leaving not much time left for personal development.

i thought the proposal at the end of the show was too dramatic... or does that reflect china's standard of proposal...?

OST was good, one or two notable tunes.

Messy wuxia story

took me a while to understand the timeline of the story of XS, from the time he was crown prince, then lost his skills and then wandering the world. he seemed not to want to care about the others on the outside but was kinda too involved somehow through his position and care for friends.

i didnt like the romance in this story, it's a fight for brotherhood and peace... why is there a need to include a love line just because? i didnt find much chemistry between XS and QL and it feels really forced.

i liked watching liu xue yi bald in this show. as usual, his acting is top notch despite looking a bit too mature for the age of the actual character...

overall the show was entertaining but i doubt i will rewatch.

Kept me on the edge

a fast-paced story line, kept me hooked from the get-go. i did not even realise when i was more than half-way through the show!

i like the concept of a time loop, the main leads had to repeat the eventful day multiple times until the correct move was made. it remains a mystery as to why the leads were chosen for this time loop.

both leads were performed well, i liked that it was a pure thriller with just a nice touch of romance for the human touch. definitely worth the time.

Love language is acts of service

a really enjoyable drama, the male and female leads have great chemistry on screen.

the introverted character of the female lead was portrayed really well, she shared only thoughts that she felt were necessary and never wanted to divulge anything more that others could not do anything to help with. my heart reached out to her whenever she was suffering alone. i felt the character portrayed strong inner strength.

BJT looked good in this show as male lead, he portrayed the character really well too. i wonder how the male lead character will be received in real life, imagine a guy who stalks you for years post break up... thankfully the female lead likes him as well... otherwise isn't it another form of harassment? just another pov...

the songs from this show are really good though...

Drama for girls yearning for love

perhaps i'm too old for this type of dramas... the overall plot didnt appeal much to me. watched this because i watched the first frost and wanted to know more about the sang family story.

the storyline feels a bit unbelievable. i can understand how a young girl can have a crush on an elder brother's friend, but i cannot understand why the male lead will fall in love with the girl just because she stood up for him. based on the story, it seems SZ holds a special place in DJX's heart from an early part of the story.

i feel this show appeals more to the younger crowd, those who like to see their first love fairytale come true. it does have a feel good vibe to it. both male and female leads look amazing and sweet together. not a show i will rewatch for sure.

OST is really good

very typical plot where someone in modern world is pulled into a novel/story.

first half of the show was quite entertaining as the female lead navigated through the game play but plot started to make less sense towards the end. especially the part on the amnesia - which wasn't revealed until the end.

the ending was poorly presented, especially the last part when she couldnt remember what she experienced.

female lead's acting was hard to watch, every expression was exaggerated. i couldn't see much chemistry between her and the male lead either.

only saving grace was the OST, most of the songs in the show were fantastic!

Always a step ahead

my last C-drama was Yanxi Gong Lue... this show brought me back to the realm of C-drama...

although quite hard to watch 30-ish WJY act as 20 year old female lead, she does have the charisma and air to portray the deep thinking XFF. its very satisfying to watch how XFF takes down all the enemies through strategy and wit.

male lead is an eye candy and hard to believe he is 10 years younger than female lead. i enjoyed the interaction between the leads and the various side plots along the way.

music is great too, alot of memorable songs. will rewatch if time permits.
