That sums up my opinion exactly ..like what...i feel betrayed and like i wasted my time watching this ..but the…
The comedy definitely was worth it and I try to be more positive about it but yeah... Man, that was a slap in the face. I was actually afraid this would happen and originally didn't plan to watch the drama without knowing the ending but then all the hilarious gifs totally swayed me. I shall not fall into that trap again.
I think what people are mad about isn't so much that it's not BL but that the ending makes no sense in light of…
I mean, yes, I can understand that view. I think it's really just a matter of perspective. The more I think about it, it wouldn't have worked to BH to stay on long term and I'm sure that he is a better person than he was before. For SY things also worked out perfectly and she can finally breathe. But as I said, the way it was presented, I really don't care about SY because for me, Sobong was chiefly BH with her memories. The drama even told us that they were two different people. Even if SY has changed, in my view it's not her who CJ fell in love with over the course of the drama. But I mean, I guess we're not going to change each other's views on this since we view it differently but I really appreciate the discussion :) (thanks to which I'm less mad than I was two hours ago haha)

I mean, after reading comments and ranting for over an hour now (haha), I can understand your view as well. If the drama had made it more clear what they were going for, I also could have been completely on board with that. The queen absolutely deserves happiness and the chef couldn't have stayed anyway since he was in a vegetative state in his time. But the way it was written, was just really unsatisfactory for me.

As one of the "some people", I think it's really about how you interpret everything that happened. Not to say that my view is right but for me the problem was that we never really saw much of SY, so I think I drew a line between SY and BH that your for example didn't draw. It just makes me feel sad because the way it is, BH and CJ lose something and only SY really wins although she was the least active (in my view).
Well I'm waiting for the ratings to drop by those who wanted a BL ending. But as one comment posted chef didn't…
I think what people are mad about isn't so much that it's not BL but that the ending makes no sense in light of the whole logic of the plot until that point. This feels as if a drama has a great love story between FL and ML and then the FL suddenly gets replaced by some other girl. And rather than to address that, the drama is like... Anyway, this is the happy ending. But, like... Who is it happy for? Really only the other girl.
I agree that So young deserves to be happy but she should have fought for that happiness instead of giving up…
Yes! She totally deserves happiness but not on the backs of Bonghwan and Cheoljong who did fight. The way was written, soyong now just swoops in and gets rewarded, for what? For giving up?
I still can't..... Urgh.... If the writers were going for this ending then they should have let us audience in…
Exactly! If they had properly introduced it, I could have gotten on board with it. But they constantly explicitly stated that BH isn't SY and that BH is the ones with the feelings for CJ. They even mocked BI for not being able to tell SY and BH apart. And now we're supposed to be like, haha, cool, yeah, that's what it's supposed to be like, SY and BH are basically the same anyway. But that just completely demolishes the whole logic of everything that came before that??? That's honestly what makes me mad. This feels like someone realized too late that this could come off as kinda gay (no shit, Sherlock) and then they freaked out and wrote some random shit.
Also, yes! What about Hong Yeon's descendants in Gangnam! I forgot about that and now I feel robbed
They are expecting the guy will end up with the King LMAO that's ridiculous the WRITERS are so brilliant this…
I agree that it was wishful thinking that the writers would go that route in a conservative country like Korea. But penny for your thoughts, what makes you think of the idea as ridiculous?
Wow. This is honestly why I don't watch more kdramas. They can give you 19 perfect episodes and then punch you in the gut in the end. And I'm sorry, is the epilogue supposed to make it okay? Wtf? Then what was Sobong's whole story even for? If this was supposed to be the Great Love Story Between SY and CJ, then make that clear from the start because then I could have dropped that after the first episode. Sorry, SY, but the story was great exactly BECAUSE we didn't have a sweet, kind & lovely heroine but because the heroine was a super opinionated modern dude stuck in the body of a woman. That's also the person we watched the ML fall in love with for 19 episodes. You can't tell me that Soyong would have achieved any of the things Sobong did because Soyong literally tried to kill herself before she got anything done. And then she comes back when all her issues are resolved? Haha, f*** you. We barely got to know the girl, so you can't except me to root for her.
Wow, this is weird. I expected something completely different because I didn't look at spoilers and was SURE that I would binge it... And after two episodes I'm totally thinking of dropping it.
What a movie! I don't even know why I decided to watch this in the first place... big mistake. Usually I do enjoy…
I didn't personally mind this one but I'm totally wary of Miike movies. I love most of them but some are just too much somehow, so I totally understand that sentiment
I see they will undertake a different approach on the original material compared to the 2007 version. The thing…
I'm also worried about the cast. This is the kind of story that's carried by the acting. Tbh, I even wonder about Mukai because Kimutaku has a huge screen presence and that was a role that fit him really well. Mukai is perfectly fine in some roles but I've also seen performances of his that weren't great. His acting is really chill and I'm not sure if that fits for a role we're meant to desperately route for.
I liked how the whole concept was all about motherhood and found family. The best mother was the one who didn't give birth to any of the children she took care of and who was abandoned herself. I think that in Japan there is this strong concept that children who aren't raised by a normal family (= biological mother + father) can't be normal and interrupt the flow of society. But this movie is like, f*** you, biological parents can mess up and their children can still be happy.
I put watching this off for years because I read that the mystery isn't the best. I'm glad I finally watched it anyway because it conveniently was on Netflix. It's really not so much about the mystery as it's about prejudices and hypocrisy and for that I liked it a lot.
Nice story. In certain scenes I didn't understand why Miki always says to others "I'm a man". If she is brave…
I also wondered about her calling herself a man but my guess is that she knew that there was no point in arguing since that was always when someone directly asked her if she was a man. She usually avoided confrontations at first. (like, Goto often snapped before her.) And Miki would technically still have 'male' written in her ID, so I thought she was being factual because people would have given her shit for 'pretending' to be a woman despite what her papers read.
