these happened in last maybe 40 min of last ep.: The chef Jang bong Hwan gets hurt and his soul returns to his body in modern world hospital. We see him run to the library to find out what happened with Choeljong and find out what changed in his life because of his life in Joseon. And thats it, because even though he was the main character for these past 19,5 episodes, that is the ending he got. Nothing.
As for Joseon characters (sorry for my sarcastic tone, but I can't help it): Kim So Yong returned to her body. She and king survived and they lived happily ever after. Sure, the king feels like something is missing and the Queen speaks differently, but everyone is happy. And most importantly, there is nothing even remotly gay about this ending and that is what matter.
Honestly I cried at the ending because it was sad ending for me. The king fell in love with the chef's personality…
It didn't feel like two people in 1 body, even when running away at the waterfall he told Byung In it's not her anymore that it's different person inside, yes the memories stayed but that doesn't mean she was there too. . we watched how the chef developed, how he changed from not committing to anyone to putting everything on the line for the king. we watched him getting used to Joseon and building new family, just so at the end we can watch as everything is taken away from him. Queen was cheeky before? well it didn't seem that way, she tried to kill herself because she couldn't find way to reach her happy ending. She wasn't enough and in the beginning of the show the king hates her. If he keep loving her after the end of the show it was thanks to hard work and personality of the chef. so I have no intention of watching that special episode, because she got something that isn't hers and that episode feels like excuse for why it's suppose to be happy ending, cheap band-aid. Sorry but I'm so extremely dissatisfied and disappointed I simply don't want to watch that thing. It's like rubbing salt in injury.

I don't even want to know what drama is going on in Korea about this show. Koreans are getting on my nerves with them being butthurt about every single fucking thing and making unnecessary problems because they are bored...

Would I watch the show even after knowing how it ended? Yes definitely, because I knew it would ended bad and I wanted to watch it because of the funny parts. Would I rewatch it? eh...i dunno. maybe if I played forward the politics and didn't watch the last episode?
I have to rant somewhere or I'm gonna explode: I don't watch that much K-dramas anymore but I enjoyed this show…
Honestly I cried at the ending because it was sad ending for me. The king fell in love with the chef's personality and he knew something was off after the queen recovered,. He can only read his Queen's dictionary, never add any new expression and live in illusion that he has the right person by his side. the chef fell in love with the king's personality but woke up back in his time, only able the read what happened in history books, never forgetting what he lived through (because honestly who could forget something like that). The first thing he does after waking up back in his body is finding out if the king survived, if he was okay, if he won. and that's it because even after we watched 19 episodes of the chef's story, we basically don't see how he ended up. Did the writers forgot who was the main character or what? I read somewhere that it was good end because what man would want to be pregnant and give birth. I honestly think he was starting to like the baby and was protective of it, and it was his baby. he may be in different body but it was him, he created it, he wrote journal for it and he talked to it. urgh...the ending sits so badly with me it's making my head hurt.
I have to rant somewhere or I'm gonna explode: I don't watch that much K-dramas anymore but I enjoyed this show immensely.... it was funny and different and the actors did amazing job. it was good..mostly. The beginning was great and even though it cooled down on its way to the end it was still pretty good. the ending oh god...I know why it ended the way it ended but it still pisses me off. [+]
Does it come with English sub? i bought it and mine does not come with English sub.
it does, when you click the square with cc on right bottom side you can choose language of sub. If you are using the app, the subs won't show if you download the video for offline viewing for some reason but otherwise it should work the same.
