Does GTY actually have children already? When he spoke to ML brother I though he was just helping a woman but…
By helping out Manniang, it means that GTY took her in as a concubine, then they have children (notice how they have 2 children, the first one a girl and the second one a boy, which means Manniang has planned to swindle her way to become a concubine in Marquis's house)
On the first and second arc of the drama, the female lead and GTY interacted very minimal. She didn't see him as potential partner.
SPOILER ALERT: that's GTY's character arc! when he was heart and brain riddled with Manniang, he agreed to find a proper wife to save face (as that was the conduct at that time). Later on he would realize his mistake and changed his ways.
as why GTY is a loved character, probably because he fits the anti-hero trope so much.
I have only watched a few Japanese dramas, but this is the only one where (in my opinion) the male lead is handsome!…
this is my 3rd or 4th drama too and I'm not sure if it's just me but I feel like the male leads style in jdramas are outdated if compared to cdramas or kdramas. idk maybe it's just the preference of japanese audience.
honey dripping from every scene lol the fluffiness made me smile from beginning to end. I know this kind of relationship is not realistic but I truly hope there really are some couples out there who really love each other like this lol.
it's more compact than the anime so i prefer this. still think this story with its worldbuilding has so much potential but the writer fumbled it by only sticking to the romance.
YIFEI WHAT DID THEY DO WITH YOUR EYEBROWS lol did this movie skipped camera test altogether? the awful angles, grading, horrifying shots.. plus the choppy editing. it feels like the editor just gave up, really. the redeeming factor would probably be the actors, they act better than the ones in the drama.
the only bad thing (i dont even sure if it's bad) is the set dressing and costuming. not sure if that's how people in china dress but i got this feeling that the set and costumes are a bit too dressed (?), it does feel like actors are filming there instead of people actually living there.
not finished it yet! but i really love how this drama depict the struggles young people have. my favorite is when Damai accidentally overheard the housekeeper's advice on working to Mr. Ma and Hongdou. She get rejuvenated to work again but then when she tried to work, she get distracted by many things lol isn't that a very realistic struggle.
were his kisses better there than you are my glory?
rewatching you are my glory because of your comment lol the kissing scenes in YAMG feels more satisfying (lol what have i reduced myself into) because it feels much earned (?) like the plot leading to the kiss.
rewatching and man this drama is really a mood lifter. Stable, secure people in loving, healthy and happy relationship, not to mention good looking actors with through-the-roof chemistry, plus realistic plot with great banter between characters....
