Imagine a train ride. It starts out slow, but it's alright, and though it never picks up much speed, you like the trip well enough. Then suddenly the train wings off the tracks over a bridge and into a chasm below. There is fire and destruction. Ruin. People are missing with only a couple of sentences to say why. Someone is dead. The train is utterly wrecked. Eventually along comes a helpful hero to spray a single fire extinguisher on some of the flames.
I loved this series so much despite its flaws--until the second half, and especially the end when it felt more like the creators were taking out their own issues on the story. It's a real shame, considering how much was invested by the cast and the fans. And lord, that special finale episode was mostly good, but too little too late. Thanks to Drei for writing it though. We all deserved better.
