Who does Xiao Yao wish to spend the rest of her life with?

This review contains spoilers...

After watching Lost You Forever and waiting over a year to finally watch the ending of the story, I have a lot of thoughts. I am a Yang Zi fan (surprise... not), so of course, I was going to check out her latest hit drama. I did not expect coming out of the other side of this drama... so broken.

Ms. Tong Hua. I have a bone to pick with you. You have a penchant for writing sad endings to your novels. I am sure you get off on hurting your fans. Are you some sort of masochist? I was hurt after watching Scarlet Heart, but Nicky Wu and Cecilia Liu made up for it by getting married in real life. Are you going to convince Yang Zi and Tan Jian Ci to get married? We need answers!

Anyway, back to the story. I was immersed in the Lost You Forever world pretty quickly. The sets, costumes and look of the show was fantastic. It looked like they did not skimp out on budgets for the set. At first, I was skeptical seeing Yang Zi play a man but she pulled it off decently well. The story was also well written so that it wasn't hard to see how Yang Zi could be caught in a love quadruple with three men. I was so engrossed with Xiao Yao reuniting with Cang Xuan, Xiao Yao's love promise with Ye Shiqi and every single moment she spent with Xiang Liu/ Fang Feng Bei. I loved it all.

Who does Xiao Yao wish to spend the rest of her life with? Who does Xiao Yao like? Those were the two questions Xiao Yao never answered in the show. In the show, she said the person she liked was the person she wanted to spend the rest of her life with. She never answered who that person was. We are lead to believe it would be Tushan Jing because she did admit that she was willing to marry Ye Shiqi. But if it were clearly Ye Shiqi/ Tushan Jing, why couldn't Xiao Yao answer that question? Why is it so hard for her to admit that she wants to spend the rest of her life with Tushan Jing? What we can deduce is that when Xiang Liu asked Xiao Yao those questions, the person she had in her heart was not Ye Shiqi. Perhaps, the true love of her life is the person she hides in her mirror?

This is why Tong Hua needs to explain herself. If you choose to watch this drama, please understand that you will not only hate the ending of this drama, you will also be in limbo forever because we get no satisfaction despite the supposed happy ending of this drama. When I think about this story and these characters, all I feel is pain. My heart physically hurts. Is it worth the watch? Yes, I suppose it is. I am not sure.

Maybe Tong Hua will give us answers in her next project. Let's find out by watching Filter!
