The writer seems to be placing a full circle or contrast meaning with it. The choice of a potted flowering plant vs. cut flowers, alludes to perhaps a need in the script to keep it alive until she was ready to receive it maybe. It does only have 2 blooms left verses the many blooms it had before. Does just 2 blooms left have meaning too, like just the 2 of them left, or only the 2 of them needed to support eachother now? I like these types of emotional Easter Eggs in writing.
