On Love Catcher Japan May 23, 2024
I'm pretty surprised that the rating was so low for this show. I honestly thought it was pretty fun and enjoyable. I usually watch Korean dating shows and I rarely watch Japanese dating shows. I think the only one I've watched is Terrace House. After watching lots of Korean dating shows, I felt a bit bored because it feels like the same thing over and over again. However, with this season of Love Catcher Japan, I feel like the contestants all had really distinct personalities, so it was quite fun to watch. The friendships between the cast also seem genuine, so I'm sure that they probably hangout with each other even after the show was over.

The thing that pisses me off about Gwan Hee is that even after Ha Jeong roasted him he still doesn't feel any remorse. He said sorry to her but I just couldn't feel any sincerity. It was more like "I'm sorry that you are so pissed" type of apology not "I'm sorry because I did something wrong". I know we shouldn't judge people by their careers but he is just portraying the typical cocky basketball player who knows that lots of girls are chasing after him, so he doesn't care about their feelings. He is so toxic. I'm surprised that Ha Jeong still likes him so much despite how toxic he is. She seems like a really smart girl, who is really able to voice her opinions and stand up for herself. But she still can't see the ginormous red flags. *sighs* Ha Jeong deserves better.

Female friendship is one of my favorite drama themes, and I love a good female ensemble drama. It's that combo…
I don't know if you watch Chinese historical dramas, but I have yet to see another drama that has so many wholesome female friendships/female interactions as this drama: New Life Begins. Literally all of the women support each other and build each other up. I started the drama because I wanted to watch the romance between the leads but I ended up staying because of the friendships =)

Thanks for writing this article! This was great =) Not to mention you have 3 of my all-time favourite dramas on here: Business Proposal, When I Fly Towards You and Hospital Playlist. The friendship in these dramas is really something else. I will always remember that scene in Hospital Playlist where they are singing karaoke in their university days and having so much fun together. That was the moment when I knew I would fall in love with the drama. Thanks for sharing!

This was such a realistic drama that shows the hardships of people in their 20s and 30s living in a city. As someone who just turned 30, I appreciate how real this show is and I enjoyed the friendships. I really liked everything in this drama except for the younger couple who kept on acting so immature. Every time they were on the screen I had to skip through their scenes because it was so bad.

I literally miss them so much.....the show was so wholesome. ....hope I can erase my memories to watch it again..😭❤️https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cud07QbMLXi/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
Thanks for sharing the deleted scenes! They are such a cute couple

Dropped. I like the actors but the plot is just not doing it for me. It's too bad because the leads look cute together (I've seen their other dramas before) but it's still not enough to save this sinking ship

Crazy idea in the morning: can you imagine them doing a remake of the Kdrama Business Proposal? I just turned…
Oh wow! That would be tons of fun. And we would get to see the couples in a second drama together.

This was amazing! I enjoyed Season 1 so I was really looking forward to Season 2 but I must say I love Season 2 even more. There were more deep conversations and just Seventeen bonding together. Their friendship is so precious 🥰

I was rooting for Jinyoung and Seulki the whole time so I was quite shocked when she chose Jungwoo. I can understand Seulki's perspective though, because Jinyoung is a good looking "bad boy" type and the way he talks and acts makes him seem like a player. Jungwoo, on the other hand, seems like a very sweet guy and very sincere. I was still slightly disappointed that Seulki chose the safe option instead of choosing the guy she actually likes but oh well, at the end of the day it's just a dating show.

Based on the others previews vs episodes, sooro won’t check taeeun identity… the previews always tend to hint…
I hope so! I'm really rooting for TaeSoo couple to have a happy ending. I haven't been this invested in a couple since Sera and Jungjin in Season 2

Seung Yeon...sigh. I didn't know it was possible to have even less respect for you than after the last episode,…
Thank you for saying this! SeungYeon just can't accept "no" as an answer and it's so frustrating. What's worse is that the panel even sides with her and they keep on rooting for her and feeling bad for her.

If it's uncomfortable, Seulki should say it.
She did! When they were in Paradise, she said several times, "I don't like it when you ask me these kinds of questions, it's really hard for me to answer. It makes me uncomfortable" And he just kept on ignoring her and asking those questions like a bulldozer. She used the words 너무 부담돼요 which literally means "What you're doing is a burden to me".

I love watching dating shows cus it's fun and entertaining, but I do see some toxic values and I wanted to talk about it. In these dating shows (and maybe in real life as well), it seems like their attitude is try, try, try again even though that person CLEARLY isn't interested in you. Like the conversation between Dongwoo and Seulki was so awkward and uncomfortable. Poor Seulki, her whole body language was saying, "I don't like you, please don't talk to me" and Dongwoo was still in disbelief that she didn't like him back. And for So E as well, I think Yoong Jae refusing to go with her to Paradise was his polite way of rejecting her but she still didn't get the hint *sigh* I understand that perseverance is typically a good trait, but in the world of dating sometimes it can be a recipe for disaster. For some of these contestants, it's not even perseverance anymore, it's stubbornness.

i mean she might be following the scripts!
I don't think these are scripted at all...Cus my favourite couple from Love Catcher season 2, they have their own Youtube channel and they talk about how things weren't scripted.

This show has been fun so far but I'm getting major second-hand embarrassment from Seungyeon. The part where Taeeun and Sooro were chilling on the couch and she's like just like imma interrupt and be a third wheel like why?? Who does that? I really liked her for the first few episodes so it's sad to see how immature she is. She's the type of person that doesn't take no for an answer.

As an introvert myself, I'm rooting for Nadine. You go girl! I love her personality and the rest of the cast seem really kind as well. For some reason I'm getting bad vibes from Dongwoo. He seemed really sweet and stuff and then he pulled the Jintaek move and I was like NOPE not this again.

Love triangle??
Yes, but her feelings for ML never waver throughout the webtoon so it's very one-sided. I think she sees SML as just a friend.
