In ep5, there is a small blip of a scene where Sun seems to be having a flashback of his Mom & it wasn’t a nice one. I agree that Solar/Sun’s Mom is the reason he has suppressed this trauma & why after he was hit by the car he switches.

I don’t think it has anything to do with the ship, it’s either the director or the artists themselves. If you watched P10, you’d know Boom and Perth also kissed. So, that theory doesn’t make sense.
