LOL at the people here being mad that she didn't love Eun Pyung and end up with him, their only only reason for…
yes, attraction may play a role, but i think besides that the chairman was just not charming and very...boring? even during their cute scenes, i was unable to really feel any chemistry. moreover, it isn't easy to ignore what he did. even if was not directly involved in ra el's parents' murders, he still turned a blind eye to it. people liked eun pyung because of his loyalty and the emotions he expressed for ra el. there are tons of shows i have seen with v attractive leads, but was unable to like them much bc they lacked depth (ex: suho from true beauty). there are also shows i have seen with unconventionally attractive leads who became attractive due to their charm.
tbh the love story between the chairman and ra el could have been rlly good if they didn't cast a ml who was o,o the whole time :/ i understand his character is supposed to be more reserved but they could have still made him charming rip
i also found it odd how she was able to leave her daughter so easily. ik she wasn't her real daughter but i would imagine you'd build attachment after raising an innocent child for years?
ahaha, i don't think it would be considered fantasy per say as heaven/hell is a very real thing people believe…
i thought you were referring to the ending of the show where they go into heaven. but no i agree, that was absurd. there were many absurd components in the show including logan lee surviving his burns, soo ryun's doppelganger, and more.
here after the finale (not a spoiler dww) and just wanted to offer my thoughts for those immensely frustrated with this show. the show is very anger-inducing! and in the first season, the characters have very slow development. they don't learn from their mistakes and continue to mess up. it happens a lot in the second season as well. but things get better as they go! still a lot of unrealistic themes (so if that is not your cup of tea and if you are unable to look past that, then i would not recommend this show) but there definitely is a lot of development. so if you are currently watching season one, just keep in mind that this show has three seasons and it'll take time to see development (:
I like the ending-I cried a lot bc I NEVER expected this but it kinda was a happy(sad) ending and it all fit with…
i liked it too! it seems like this is an unpopular opinion but i think it makes sense that soo ryun killed herself. she had been through a lot of pain and felt immense guilt, so i understand it'd be hard to continue living after that. the heaven thing seems to have thrown people off, but heaven isn't fantasy per say? it is something people genuinely believe in, and so it didn't seem random to me. i do wish they showed what happen between soo jin and eun byul after soo jin completed suicide though. but overall, i liked that we got closure for a lot of things and saw development in characters ((: i cried too many times in this last episode ahh, it has been such a ride
The ending, lol.Can someone add the Fantasy genre in the above description? If the Fantasy genre is written above,…
ahaha, i don't think it would be considered fantasy per say as heaven/hell is a very real thing people believe in (not as imaginative as a tooth fairy). and so when i was seeing the show, it didn't seem absurd to me.
9 ((: the show has many flaws but is still receiving a higher rating from me bc it is so addicting and the actors did a phenomenal job :,) i enjoyed every second of it !
i don't personally think that this show glamorizes adultery. we see clear consequences (ex: in the case w the family of the dad marrying the musical actress). rather, i believe that it is showing the other side and why people make the mistakes that they do. of course, it is wrong and disgusting to cheat. however, it is very common in our society, and so, i think the writer is trying to showcase circumstances leading up to it. sure, the romantic music over some scenes can be off putting, albeit, i think the writer is simply trying to showcase how the characters are feeling in that moment (and how cheaters may feel in moments of cheating). at the end of the day, all humans make mistakes, and they have their own reasons for making them. cheating is gross of course, but often in shows, i simply see characters reduced to only their cheating, thus it is interesting to see more depth to these characters. nevertheless, i still hate them all, and the show is rather slow at times (i forward through most of it).
I was hesitant about picking this show up, but it is really good! Most characters have depth, and I look forward to what is coming. The osts are so pretty, and the show feels like a fresh breeze (:
this is the dumbest fucking petition and every single person who signed it should be embarrassed of themselves
thank you for your understanding reply. i agree, and i also feel annoyed by ignorant fans. it gives the international community a bad reputation, and i do believe that if we appreciate korean culture, then we must also empathize with korean viewers. i replied to your comment because you said that anyone who signed the petition should be embarrassed of themselves. i didn't really agree with that stance. the description of the petition could have been phrased better, however a lot of people have different reasons for signing it. it was the only petition popular, thus many people - including myself - signed it. i personally signed it in hopes of the show being revised and aired so that accountability would be prioritized instead of cancel culture, and so that workers would be paid fairly. of course, i also signed it because i enjoyed the first episode and would like to see the entirety. however, if no workers were affected by this decision and if the show really did have an inappropriate agenda as a whole, then i wouldn't have cared much about losing this show.

@snakeu how would you feel if you lost your job for hurting someone's feelings? most people aren't invalidating korean people's sentiments, but rather sympathizing with the people who worked on the show. i don't mind losing a kdrama, there are so many other options to choose from. however, it is upsetting to see that many people working on the show will not be paid. as mentioned in the comments, the cancellation led to decreases in SBS stocks which could have led people to becoming fired and people's jobs being affected in different ways. it is likely that people of lower socioeconomic backgrounds especially struggled because they wouldn't have properly been paid. a show involves many people - not just the viewers. thus, a cancellation also affects livelihoods. do you realize that financial insecurity can also have major impact on people'e mental and physical health? many people live paycheck to paycheck, so imagine how they were affected. i am not korean, albeit as a fellow human being, my heart hurts for all the people who put their whole hearts into this show. of course, korean people's sentiments are valid. as a person who has had their country colonized, i can empathize with korean people's discomfort. but the show apologized and was ready to re-shoot. accountability should have been prioritized instead of cancel culture.
i am not defending fans who are simply mad for their entertainment purposes, and i definitely see a lot of ignorant comments. but, i hope you can see where i am coming from.
Are people really saying that (other than that awful post lower down)? Like, I don't even understand how it would…
Agreed, I was so confused by the post below. This theme is so common across kdramas and just shows in general. Besides that, it is a reality. Capitalism is exploitative, and admitting it does not make one a communist.
I love this drama but it's honestly not that good. I couldn't put my finger on it before but episode 15 cleared…
I agree! I wish the characters would showcase more emotion and that the characters were more fleshed out. I was especially surprised when Cha-Young's father passed away, and Vincenzo woke up and acted normal . I also expected Cha-Young to become more affected by what happened.
I'm very disappointed by the writer, as he had written a number of great series in the past. This drama is nothing…
I believe that the director/writer are simply trying to showcase the corruption in our society. It isn't a juvenile sense of justice; this is reality. This is a common theme across MANY kdramas and shows in general. I don't believe that they are trying to push a communist agenda, albeit even if they were I wouldn't mind it. Yes, there are plot holes, but that is simply a matter of writing. The preponderance of the audience does not feel uncomfortable watching shows like these; as seen by the rating on MDL and ratings in Korea. This show is simply showcasing a reality. Capitalism is exploitative and people in power do exploit the poor. You don't have to be from left-wing or right-wing to see that; it is clear. It is normal to send messages via shows, and directors/writers have the right to do so since it is THEIR work. If you dislike the show and are offended, you are free to discontinue.
damn, the reviews are pretty harsh on here. i loved the original, but i also enjoyed this one. it was like a fresh breeze :,) i personally love the actress so i found her super cute. the pacing is rather rushed, but i just thought of the show as a webdrama since the episodes are so short. it is also nice to see things without a lot of filler sometimes. i would recommend maybe not comparing this so much to the original. the show is just meant to be a quick, fun watch. i don't think they were trying to create anything deep.
It's fine not to enjoy someone's acting but shaming someone for their looks isn't cool :/
Also you shaming her is not going to fix ANYTHING. In fact, all it does is spread hate and negativity. Words have consequences and it will lead people to make irreversible actions. Sulli's passing should have taught us that at least. If you want to fix this issue, then appreciate people of all sizes and colours, participate in mental health advocacy, and do good.
