I have to say I totally cringed anyway when Kanchi said he wanted to get back together. I felt it came out of nowhere, that he had a too fast change of heart or was it like as sudden realization? When Waga asked him on the roof if he still loved Rika, he straight up said No. He didn't hesitate,it didn't seem to me like he was in doubt about how he felt towards her, he seemed sure that to have stopped loving her. Could he be that much in denial of his own feelings? That seemed unlikely and felt unrealistic to me. That's the only part that contrasted for me with how realistic the whole show depicted people and their relationships.

Hmm you do have a point there. It's true Kanchi could have told Rika sooner. I believe his intentions were not malicious though, he just couldn't bring himself to tell her out of consideration for her feelings. I'm not saying he did the right thing but I believe he was trying to do what he thought was right, what his personality and his heart, kind and sincere, dictated to him, mostly out of consideration to Rika. But, in trying to delay hurting her as much as possible, he ended up hurting her even more. So it's a matter of perspective, whether we want to look at the action and its consequence(s) or the intention(s) behind the action. You also have a good point about why Rika left him after all. I didn't think of it that way before but it does make a lot of sense. From her perspective, his actions, or in this case lack and hesitation to act, left a scar in her heart and irreversibly changed the shape of their relationship.
So, I was kind of confused about Rika and Waga's relationship. Did she date him when he was with someone else?…
From what I understood, Waga was still married when he met Rika, then fell in love with her, which ruined his marriage, and he ended up divorcing on his wife's request, even after Rika didn't want to stay with him anymore. I get what you mean about kanchi and totally respect how you view things, but I wouldn't say Kanchi cheated on Rika, what he did was more in a moment of weakness, and he wanted to tell Rika as soon as possible, he also asked Sekiguchi to wait until he sorts things with Rika.
I almost missed a nice movie and the chance to see another of Chiba's performances because of the top reviews. I'm glad I ignored them... especially after watching the other movie first ... I was too curious to see Haru's story! no regrets: the story was cute and I loved the mystery even though the idea is not original or mind blowing... honestly, I liked this movie's story more than the other's. Acting from the two male leads was great as expected from Chiba Yudai and Yoshizawa Ryo!!! They both made me fall in love with their characters! I couldn't bear Yuna's character though, and the acting didn't help... I don't like being harsh but I don't think she deserves either of them :( That's what spoiled it a bit for me, there were also some dragging moments and some kind of out-of-the-blue scenes, but i still enjoyed it, and I was satisfied at the end. I don't think I'd rewatch it though, except for 2-3 of Chiba's scenes xD Long story short, don't listen to all the bashing, especially if you like Chiba-kun, start watching and decide for yourself ;) P.S. I don't know if I would have had the same viewing experience if I had watched this movie first, so if you decide to give it a try, I suggest watching the other movie (with Nakagawa Taishi) first as I did, just saying :D
This deserves a much higher rating wth? I’m seeing comments on how this was so confusing like where was it confusing??…
Kjw enthusiast please use the spolier tag for this comment for people who haven't watched yet :) Otherwise, I totally agree with you about Chiba and the movie !
All in all a beautiful movie! the plot is not that great or particularly strong, but it's different, something new for me... and carries a nice message. The cast and cinematography is what kept me watching at first, Nagasawa Masami! , Kengo Kora! Nakamura Aoi! and Furukawa Yuki ! then Okada Masaki !They all did a good job and I was living those moments with them. There is also the storytelling, going back and forth, which kept me wondering what happened... and by the time all mysteries were unveiled, I've already fallen in love with the characters and kept watching till the end... it was slow, sometimes a bit draggy.. but I never got bored and I'm glad I stuck with it :))
