100% agree. When it comes to anime/manga & Kdramas I’ve been telling my mother for years now that they just have better plot lines than America, the kind that just suck you in & make you obsess over them for long periods of time & give you a happy feeling that I personally haven’t gotten from any American shows, even ones I’ve loved. The American industry just doesn’t go as above & beyond with the aesthetics, CGI, sound effects/music & definitely do not have the art of working the camera shots/panning as well as the Korean industry does. So many Korean dramas I’ve watched still stick with me, ones that I watched months, even years ago just because the way they were shot & because their soundtrack made all the difference in how the show resonated with me. The Korean industry just has a way of tugging on your heartstrings more than American shows IMHO, no matter how attached I’ve been to some American shows growing up, no shows have made me cry more or just have all sorts of emotions than Korean shows do. I think that alone proves they’re better at what they do & know just how to draw the viewers in.

Now, the Japanese Tomie films are pretty old (the beginning ones, anyway) so I feel we can’t put them up against any of today’s Korean thriller movies for comparison as I feel that if they were to be remade in Japan today with a higher budget then we’d get better quality live actions than the originals. Though I do still think a Korean live action of Tomie would be AMAZING, most likely the best live action of all Tomie films, & I would truly give anything to see that even though I loved the original films as a kid. Even though the original movies were sorta cheesy, what I mainly loved was the story of Tomie herself, how alluring she was & just how she drove every man she came in contact with absolutely crazy. I had never even known of the manga back then, it was just a movie I rented at the video store because I was the odd child out in my neighborhood/school that had a love for Asian horror flicks LOL.

Ummmm…. Did it really just end like that?! This show is amazing & if they don’t haul ass & bring us a second season I’m going to be so disappointed because that cliffhanger is such an insult to the story as a whole unless they plan to continue it.
